Can everyone please share your favorite slow cooker recipes? Or recipes that you can make ahead, freeze, and then just pop in the oven?
I have gone back to work after being home for 18 months and one thing that I, previously, didn't like, was getting home from work after a completely stressful day and having to spend 2 hours in the kitchen. My H is NOT a good cook and makes really weird combos so if we want to eat like normal people, I need to cook.
I don't mind spending my Sunday doing prep work!
I am looking for as healthy as possible with as little processed food as possible.
Any ideas? This thread is currently associated with: 123inkcartridges.ca

I always have home made in the freezer ready to heat up: pasta sauce, cabage rolls, chilly and pizza.
When i use to work, i would have my sunday preps :
we always eat a rost on sunday, so left over meat was monday dinner.
I would make a meal soup for tuesday.
I would make a salade (pasta, potato, rice...) to add to any dish and lunch.
I would prepare a crock pot in a bowl in the frezer ready to go.
One day to eat from the frezer (making sure i have my basic frozen home made stuff) so i would make a big batch of what ever is missing in my frezer.
And friday is always find what you can, so left overs!

I made an Italian sausage and chicken penne pasta bake which can easily be made ahead of time (and most likely can be frozen though I haven't done it) vorerty darn easy to make... Cook the meat, boil the pasta, add bottle of sauce, diced tomatoes, a little cream cheese and some shredded cheese. Toss together, throw in 375 degree oven for about 20 or 30 minutes (longer if from the fridge/freezer). Easy to serve with side salad.
I make a big pot of soup once and awhile, same as chili. Then I freeze them in individual servings. Makes for easy lunches or pull out a few for a family dinner. I love my slow cooker and make anything from beef roasts to pork tenderloins or sweet and sour steak in it. The only thing that semi worries me is leaving the slow cooker all day while I am at work so usually it is used for big weekend cooks.
My Mom makes an amazing chicken/turkey pie where she can easily make the filling before and then just needs to add the topping. She actually uses bisquick for the topping so if the filling is already made you could just get home, make some bisquick and be done dinner in 30 minutes. She serves it with rice.
If there are any specific recipes you might want just send me a pm. Good luck with the new schedule/job

I've been doing a lot of slow cooker recipes lately:
Pea Soup
Chili
Whole Chicken w/Veg
Stews (chicken & beef)
Pot Roast
And tomorrow is Curry, I use ALL the Clean Eating recipes and really find that they are GREAT combinations of things I'd never think to put together but none the less are making me out to be a really good cook (or so I think). If you don't already use these recipes I'd check it out! If you want me to post any of them let me know
