It seems that Puzder will NOT get his way and be voted in as Labour Secretary!! Three cheers for US workers! Especially any that work(ed) for him! At least 4 Republicans have said they will vote NO for him and that means they won't have the majority to get him in.
Not even a lame vote by VP Pence can help this time like it did when unqualified Betsy Devos got in for Education.
I'll bet the ex employee who spoke about how awful Puzder would be is relieved she spoke up!

Reports of mass sexual assault by refugees in Frankfurt was "baseless",say police
A widely-reported, inflammatory news story about a "rioting sex mob" of immigrants assaulting women on New Year's Eve in Frankfurt, Germany, has been exposed as "baseless" after investigation by police.
In a humiliating backdown, the German newspaper Bild, which originally reported the claims, has apologised for what it said was a "false report", which was based on the now disputed claims of a pub owner and some of their staff.
On February 6, Bild reported claims that women were attacked by a 50-strong group of "Arabic and North African looking men", at the city's Fressgass nightspot. The group were also said to have stolen drinks and clothing, and thrown bottles and fireworks.
The newspaper headlined its story "37 days after New Year's Eve, victims break their silence – sex mob in the Fressgass". Another report put the size of the fictional mob of "mostly drunk refugees" at 900.
The newspaper admitted on Tuesday the claims, and its report, were "in no way confirmed by the police and are completely unreliable".
The retraction comes amid worldwide concern over fake news being used to drive political agendas, particularly on right-wing and nationalist websites.
Sexual assault by migrants is a particularly sensitive subject in Germany, after a spate of violence in Cologne on New Year's Eve 2015/16, in which a group of drunken men of North African origin assaulted and robbed hundreds of women.
German police said they had interrogated staff and patrons at the pub and their statements "created considerable doubt about the portrayal of events" and that the story was "baseless" or "without foundation". One person who had claimed to have witnessed the attacks was not even in Frankfurt on New Year's Eve.
Prosecutors are now investigating two of the people who allegedly fabricated the claims.
Bild wrote: "The Bild editorial team expressly apologises for this non-truthful reporting and the accusations against those concerned.
"This reporting does not correspond in any way to the journalistic standards of Bild."

This particular matter has journalists debating how relevant it is to the story to identify the man as a refugee. However, that will be of interest to Canadians, because some of them don't believe that refugees will try to learn our country's laws and culture.
On the other hand, I am glad the teens that were assaulted did report their incidents. Youth need to know they can be safe in public waterparks.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I refused to watch any coverage of the rally today. #45 thinks he is in Campaign mode again, needs hugs from his supporters because all the mean Fake news people ask him tough questions about real facts and stuff.

Federal numbers released quietly by the Trudeau government late last month are painting a bleak picture of Canada's financial future — one filled with decades of deficits.
The report, published on the Finance Department website two days before Christmas, predicts that, barring any policy changes, the federal government could be on track to run annual shortfalls until at least 2050-51.
If such a scenario plays out, the document says the federal debt could climb past $1.55 trillion by that same year — more than double its current level.

President Trump refers to non-existent refugee 'incident' in Sweden during rally
Appearing before an audience of supporters in Melbourne, Florida, the US president spoke out in defence of his administration's travel ban and the need to restrict immigration in the interest of national security.
He said: “When you look at what’s happening in Germany, when you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden - Sweden! Who would believe this? Sweden! They took in large numbers, they’re having problems like they never thought possible.”
However, there was no such incident in Sweden on Friday night.
Many Twitter users got in touch with the official @Sweden Twitter account, which is given over to a different Swedish citizen curator each week, to ask what incident he might be referring to.
Holding the reins this week is school librarian @kseenaa, who wrote: "No. Nothing has happened here in Sweden. There has not been any terrorist attacks here. At all. The main news right now is about Melfest."

not only did Trump speak of an imaginary terrorist attack in Sweden but he used a quote from Thomas Jefferson to try and validate his hatred for what he calls the " fake "news media. No question he misinterpreted the words of the past President, but his supporters at the rally will never fact check and read the entire statement by Jefferson for themselves.
Thank goodness for John McCain speaking out in an interview slamming any government that tries to muzzle the free press.
In the “Meet the Press” interview, McCain told Todd that a free press was central to a functional democracy, even if news organizations' stories challenged those being held accountable.
“I hate the press. I hate you, especially,” he said to Todd, who laughed. “But the fact is, we need you. We need a free press. We must have it. It's vital.”
“If you want to preserve democracy as we know it, you have to have a free and, many times, adversarial press,” McCain added. “And without it, I am afraid that we would lose so much of our individual liberties over time. That's how dictators get started.”

President Trump is right, there was a recent attack in Sweden.By Neo-Nazis on a refugee centre.
The world reacted with confusion after Donald Trump cited a Swedish terrorist attack during a campaign-style rally in Florida that appeared never to have happened.
One of the country's official Twitter accounts, controlled by a different citizen each week, said: "Nothing has happened here in Sweden. There has not [been] any terrorist attacks here. At all."
However, despite widespread debunking of his claims, it has since emerged a largely underreported attack did, in fact, occur last month.
Three suspected neo-Nazis were arrested in January after a Gothenburg Asylum centre became the target of a homemade bomb attack, leaving one person seriously injured.
Security services said all three suspects had previously been members of the Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR), a group that openly promotes racist and anti-Semitic views and has vocally opposed non-white immigration to the country.
The Swedish intelligence service Säpo said the incident on 5 January, which was also linked to two others in Gothenburg in recent months, appeared to be politically motivated.
The NMR was set up in 1997 by former members of the White Aryan Resistance and employees of Folktribunen, a neo-National socialist magazine. The group is considered as the figurehead for Sweden’s white power movement.

actually @Darth Penguin , Donald used the words " last night " in his comments, as in can you believe what is happening in Sweden... last night. He was telling all his supporters at the rally on Saturday that there had been an attack in Sweden the night before. ( because he listened to a FOX news report he watched on tv......which is the real problem )
As President he has Intelligence reports at his disposal and should be up on what is going on in the world, he should not use sound bites from FOX news tv as his sources.
Makes it uncomfortable for him that the attack in January was caused by Neo Nazis ON a refugee centre.Last edited by walkonby; Mon, Feb 20th, 2017 at 05:40 PM.
