Thread: When do you turn on the heat?
-

I live in SK in a newer apartment building. I have not yet turned on the heat. There is so much heat radiating from the neighbors' apartments that it is so warm. Whenever I use the oven the apartment is so warm; to the point we have opened up the patio doors to let some cool air in!

Not till end of November / first week December. Between now and then, if it gets really cold, then a portable is used to warm up and then turned off.

It's 18 degrees in the house, not sure how much longer I can hold out. Last hear we made it to October 30. But we have gas fireplace so that was turned on for the 1st time today

We've had the heat on and off over the past month, actually. I don't mind things cool - so when I get too cool and go to jack up the thermostat, it provides mirth from my husband (who is always cold).

We've had the heat on a few times now. (It kicks in automatically at 68 degrees.) I have a heated throw and an electric fan on my side of the bed. I usually use both at different times in the night. My dog has given up and now sleeps on his own bed.

ditto Natalka^^ DH and DS are usually colder than DD and I, DH is the one who tends to be in charge of the thermostat though, it is just not on my radar, however the other night DD said her room was stifling so I checked the thermostat and it was at 75!
Since the guys were at work I promptly lowered it.
I think we are heating the house for nothing because I opened DD's door to her room last night and it is like an ICEBOX!! ( she had her window cracked open ) She says she cannot sleep when it is too hot, whatcha gonna do??Last edited by walkonby; Mon, Oct 19th, 2015 at 05:30 AM.

Take off a cover? It works too well for me so I wear flannel pyjamas to help keep warm.
I'm still on a comforter quest-don't want to buy a set with shams etc as I only need one decent colourful comforter.
Heat has been on and off. For the past few days, we've been baking frozen pizza or entrees for supper, so the oven warms up the kitchen/dining room for awhile.Last edited by Ciel; Mon, Oct 19th, 2015 at 12:16 PM.

We are spoiled here in Alberta this year. We have put the furnace on a couple of times in the last month, but only for an evening. Otherwise nothing. In fact this week, we had the bedroom window wide open twice! Not tonight though.

If the weather carries on like this....perhaps first week in December. One just has to dress warm and have the right bed sheets
