Oooh I'd love to swim in a pool like that, especially one that has dedicated lanes for swimming laps. I'm a big swimmer, I have a gym membership at a gym that has a pool but it's so difficult to find a time when there isn't kids and old people standing around in the pool while socializing. I even accidentally hit a kid once while I was doing laps because he swam right in front of me.

Yeah even with lanes I've occasionally hit people by accident. Its not possible to share a lane with 4 other people who all have varying speeds yet somehow we are forced to where we go.

Wow, that's awesome. It costs $10 for an adult to go swimming at our only indoor swimming pool in my community.

yikes! @Angela273 You mean $10.00 for one day? For just one swim? That seems very high? Don't laugh but I thought $1.75 was high for my senior rate....until I got in the pool!! Now I am happy to pay it.

$10 for one swim. It isn't much cheaper if you buy a punch card for 10 swims.

Yeah thats what the YMCA charges here for a drop in swim as well, $10 each person and the lane swim is usually 1.5 hours.

It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.

Some Y's have building facility charges built into their membership fees to help recoup cost of building/renovation. In Forever Young's GTA edition, adults apparently don't get dinged on building facility fees at the Oakville Y because the fees are waived.
I've noticed not all Y's offer day passes either. Should be available at all locations. Should I ever wish to join the Les Chater Y, I'd be needing over $800 for 1 year membership. But I don't swim...

ok NO! I did not pee in the pool BUT I was laughing my butt off when I arrived at 6:00 a.m.
I found out the Swim Team was not there to hog all the lanes up, and because only a handful of us regular folk showed up for lane swimming
( maybe the snow scared some away....?? ) we all had our own lane!! It was GLORIOUS!! The long course ( 50 M ) was available today, I really like that one now.
Was able to do 2 hrs 15 min non stop. Hubby dropped me off and returned to get me so no stress over the parking today. And to think I almost let that snow scare ME off today!!

Just purchased a 3 month membership for a mere $37.50!! That beats paying $1.75 OOP each visit. I went swimming 20 days in Feb, so this will most definitely be cheaper.

Glad you found your happy place, @walkonby ! When the weather's warmer, I won't be surprised if some out of province SCers include the pool on their list of "places to see" during visits to Toronto and get in on that swimming glory!
