I wanted to show off my Year 2 Couponing gift baskets that I've finished. No doubt I'll make a few more before xmas hits, but these are the 3 I've been working on.
L - BF's sister, Middle - BF's Grandma, R- BF's Parents.
The only things paid for in the picture were the actual baskets at a yard sale, ribbons at a thrift store, cellophane at Michael's and wrapping paper on the L basket, which is just a cut Jane's chicken box that's covered. The cards/tags were FREE, I got them from holidayclassics as samples!Last edited by Chantel; Thu, Dec 8th, 2011 at 02:36 PM.

Since I am lucky enough to share my time between my hometown and my current location, and have a family and home and DBF and his family here, I have two sets of traditions!
Vic-mas (teehee):
-Put up garland and lights everywhere inside, and my small but growing collection of decorations
-Put my wreath up
-This year, I got a tree! A free beauty from usedvictoria. DBF put it up then it got decorated in pink, purple, gold, and blue, and there is a little dog toy on top (has to do with the nickname for my home...I always name where I live based on some inside joke)
-Baking cookies, pies, gingerbread
-Morally supporting my friend as she bakes for her Open House, going to her O.H.
-Setting up my technicolour swirly snowman snowglobe! It takes lame expensive tiny batteries and uses them up so fast, so DBF wired the snowman up to be electric, and now it just plugs into the wall and I can enjoy it all day So sweet
-Getting out my kitty's little stocking. This year I will fill it with paper balls because he loves those most. Haha!
Home:
-Decorating everywhereeeeeeeee in my parents' house. They have so many areas and boxes of things
-baking like 8000 recipes that I add to each year. Magic cookie bars, Nanaimo bars, sugar cookies, fudge, Christmas Rice Crispies squares
-my parents get given a lot of candy and my sister and I are usually told to eat it all, yum!
-wait for my sister to get home (or vice versa) from University or work or whatever it is as time goes on in our lives)
-seeing my best friends also visiting home
-snow snow snow snow snow
-country bar
-walking my dog and playing with my home cats
-naps every day
-all the Christmas movies
-tv marathons of whatever shows I'm into. This year probably Mad Men or something more family friendly like SNL Christmas reruns or Modern Family
-Putting up and decorating the tree when sister and I are both there
-drive on Christmas eve to see all the lights in town, according to the lighting contest
for the town
-opening one present of our choosing the night before
-reading all my childhood books
-everyone opens stocking on Christmas morning, then we each open presents one at a time til everything is done
-listen to a certain Christmas record from the eighties
-listen to local radio
<3 So excited!

Here's an interesting one, it's called the Parade of the Krampus. In Austria and the Alps, the Krampus is a mystical creature who accompanies St. Nicholas and captures the bad boys and girls, to presumedly eats them later.
Gives a whole new meaning to "he knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake"!!!Last edited by Psychojo213; Mon, Dec 12th, 2011 at 09:07 PM.

In my house it's kind of a tradition to have an iguana in the tree...
It started in 2004 when an iguana was given to me... She liked to roam the house, and after searching high and low for hours she was found safe and sound, smirking in the Christmas tree. She'd go up, spend the day and climb down for food and bed. She damaged the old tree and the new LED tree I got, but that's fine, she's my favorite "ornament".
We had the school's iguana sometimes, too, and he'd go up and lounge in the branches.
Last year we thought we were going to lose her, she is getting old and sick, and dispite wanting to go up the tree she just didn't have the strength to do it herself. So she sat under the tree.
My kids saw how sad it made me knowing she'd be gone soon, and one ran to a bedroom to grab a toy. He stuffed a Webkins iguana into the tree where my iguana would sit. Now, I'll always have an iguana in my Christmas tree.
I tried to post a picture of my iguana in the tree full of ornaments, but I can't seem to get it to work.Last edited by iggysbabysitter; Mon, Dec 12th, 2011 at 07:55 PM. Reason: inserting an image didn't work
