Jean, who played Hilda Ogden in Corrie, was fiercely protective of her personal life and had told family of her wishes for a private ceremony.
The actress never married but is survived by her older brother, Kenneth Hodgkinson, 91, and his two daughters, Sonia Hearld, 64, and Valerie Thewlis, 60.
Mrs Hearld said: “In accordance with Jean’s wishes a small private funeral has been arranged and we ask that members of the press and public respect her privacy and remember her in their own way at this sad time.”

Glad Leanne's baby was born safely - gee, I don't see Steve being able to stay away, though...
Crazy stuff about Bethanny and her being groomed by that creep.
I'm sad that Sinead left Chesney for Daniel.
