Waiting for a call from the vet.
Tig stopped eating last week - his favourite activity by the way- and was hospitalized. He was xrayed, blood & urine tests etc. They found out he has really bad hips (apparently a genetic thing) and was released with pain meds, glucosamine & antibiotics to give him. This was supposed to work. I think the meds are working because he is moving around more & jumping on & off furniture, but the little guy still wont eat. When he was released I was supposed to force some food into his mouth & after a few times that should have gotten his appetitie going again. It worked for a day-ish. The vet suggested that I run to the store and get him some "mcdonalds" - his term for store bought food - and that might stimulate his appetite and then I could start removing some the mcdonalds & replacing it with his prescription food. Not even the store bought food is working.
EDIT: Vet called. I am to try and make a slurry of his food - basically a cat food smoothy or cold soup. I did, he licked at it for a few seconds then walked away. His teeth are okay, so that is not the problem. He will not eat people food, so I can't even give him chicken or fish.Last edited by Terry_Lynn; Thu, Nov 25th, 2010 at 06:10 PM.

Hope your kitties all enjoyed Christmas and the decorations. Ours have been awesome - even Pepsi, considering it's his first Christmas - he's now 10 months -
hmmm.. not impressed with me saying NO, you can't play with those ornaments - and his feet are HUGE!
Taffy is just our same old, wonderful kitty - soz about the eyes in pic!

Aww cute pictures Nat!
I also hope all the kitties enjoyed Christmas, mine sure did! Puff as usual was licking and enjoying her tree this morning and Buttons had fun all morning playing with his new toy.

Well, look at Taffy - pic taken a few days ago, hm.... she's fairly slim, but now is carrying what looks like a small football! Interesting times are coming for us!

Some have asked about Taffy - yes, she had Pepsi last mid-February. About six months before that she had one kitten, but it was stillborn. Very unusual for a cat to have only one kitten, and she's done it twice.
It's going to be interesting to see what happens this time! Sometimes we can feel movement in her tummy, it's so cool!
Don't know when she's due because this time we didn't know when she was in heat!
So guessing on by when she started 'showing', it could be any day, or three weeks away!

Birth notice! At noon today, Taffy had a kitten! I've been busy for the past three and a half hours because I've been waiting and wondering if more will come (yes, I know if there are more they usually follow 20-30 min, but it can be up to a day) - but Taffy isn't in distress at all, just very clingy...
Unfortunately, she hasn't wanted to be back in the box with the kitten for the past two hours - I keep putting her back in, but as soon as I go away, she wants to follow me.
The kitten is okay, mewing LOUDLY once in a while, but otherwise sleeping. Since Taffy isn't in there giving the kitten warmth and feeding, I'm quite concerned.... but honestly, I just don't remember from last year how much a kitten is nursing the first day...
I had to put Pepsi in the basement, because he's too snoopy!
I'll post with an update when I can....
BTW, it's a brown tabby kitten, mostly white face...

They usually nurse every couple of hours, do you have a hot water bottle you can put under some towels to keep the kitten warm if she isnt in with it?

Yup, thanks FP I have one, and I'll do that....
I just keep putting Taffy back in the box, and frankly I'm getting tired of doing it....
She's had food and water, and lots of snuggles and headrubs which she wanted.
So I'm just going to let her be for the next little while and see what's up without me interfering!
My son and husband will be home soon, too, so that will help me out...

We had one cat at the shelter where she liked attention so much that if she even heard someone walk by she would leave the kittens to try and get attention, we ended up having to keep her in a cat carrier so she couldnt get away from the kittens (she would literally stand up and shake them off as she ran to the door to get attention)
