My Vader - do any of your look-a-likes have two inches of fur growing between the toes? Our Taffy cat has some, but Vader's is ridiculously long - this pic doesn't show it though!

Well, I busted Vader (pic several posts above) this evening.

I walked into the kitchen and she was acting kind of strange - under a high stool on the far side of the kitchen table, looked like she was 'guilty' - so I called her, and she went the other way.
I moved a basket on the floor out of the way, and in a space between that and a shelf I use for stockpile items I found:

a potato - really, really old, dry, and shriveled with the eyes grown out many inches already
an onion - sprouted a few inches, but the onion not rotted yet
the bottom rubbery thingee off a kitchen chair - half-chewed through
a roll of ribbon - played with but not eaten

I have confiscated her stash!


So, my son was there, too - and this situation reminded us of a kitten we had years ago (who was the great-great aunt of above cat Vader) who we found smuggling socks and hiding them behind the buffet in the living room.
We discovered it when she was five months old, and she was a wee little thing for her age - she'd get a sock in her mouth, hold her head up high and carry it across the room and into her stashpile. Most hilarious was to see her with one of my husband's huge woolen worksocks - it was twice the size of her; she could barely carry it.

Then, there was the cat who liked my underwear, but that is a whole 'nother embarrassing story...

Ha ha! Reminds me of my ferrets. They were serious thieves! Potatoes, plastic bags. . .and most of all. .. lingerie! I had this beautiful translucent peignoir from my wedding shower. . . no matter where I put it my ferrets would find it, carry it back to my bottom dresser drawer (which they made their sleeping lair) and I'd find them curled/wrapped up in it. I finally gave up. . .
The things we give up for the "kids", eh? lol
