I joined two of her VWT's when I first started couponing. May5th I believe was the first one and She will no reply to me to let me or anyone on the train know where it's at. she told us it was being mailed on may 20th and then on the 27th she said it was gonna be delayed due to early expiries.. would she not have know this on the 20th?? Anyways I am very upset as I just started couponing and gave over 30 coupons on each train and am now out at least 60 coupons I most likely would have used!!!

I was waiting 2 weeks for an old fashioned train from her and I PM'd her to ask if she'd either contact the person who was supposed to receive it or at least read through the msgs in the thread b/c everyone's asking for updates. She PM'd me back to say, it's been 2 weeks only. Let's see where they go from here.
Prior to this she her 'boyfriend' came online to post in her thread that she'd had a death in the family. I felt terrible but it's all sounding a little too fishy for me...

I'm 1 of 29 riders on the trains Missesta started ... sent her awesome coupons and great cpns for all the other riders. She emailed me the other day and said she's dealing with a serious personal issue. Or she blamed it on CP strike. Said she sent them out early last week or the the week before, couldn't remember exactly when. UMMMMM .... but you can still post in the brag section, still request FPC's and HV cpns from trusting people and still send nasty PM's to people. Do not trade with this person regardless of what she offers!

So I sent out an envy with some extra coupons and stamps to cover the trades postage and they sent each other the correct envys. Everyone ended up happy and I am very thanksful to the traders for understanding my goof up. Postive trade ratings left for all sides. Thanks again

I noticed Missesta joined SC in April 2011 and was already starting to run trains by the first week of May. I am generally a pretty trusting person, but her trains seemed too good to be true and she would likely not have had much of a trade rating at that time. I think that running trains before having proven oneself to be a reliable trader can be a recipe for disaster. It is so important to check feedback ratings. I know that hindsight is 20/20 and I feel really badly for people who seem to have lost so many coupons (particularly newbies).

Wow.
As a newbie, I'd have to say that there's no way I'd ever consider starting a train a month in. Nor would I join one done by someone that new either.
Is there a minimum trader requirement for trains? Especially since they involve so many people, I'd think conducting one should require xxx amount of feedback and xxx number of posts/months posting etc.
I hope everyone gets it sorted out.Things like this made everyone sad and distrustful.

I think the biggest issue is that a lot of the people who end up not fulfilling their end (whether it be trades or trains) joined far too many / made too many at the same time. I think (and I realize that not everyone would follow this) that there should really be limits (like rules - not sure if there are any in place right now?) placed on the amount of trains and trades a person is allowed to run / join /do.

I get that there is a sudden urge to participate in everything. Almost an obsessional enthusiasm. But I think that causes some to be a little overextended right off the bat. Personally I'd consider doing a train after a few good trades - but starting a train? or several? I'd rather wait until I'm settled, and I think it would be a good idea for there to be guidelines for conducting as well. In no way do I think newbies shouldn't join a train, but actually running one should be worked up to.
After the whole CP strike is through I'm actually looking at the benefits of joining one (and after my stockpile of coupons is substantial enough to benefit someone as well.)

I was trading coupons for months before I even considered joining a train. I looked at the section became immediately overwhelmed and knew I wasn't ready for it... But then I am pretty cautious by nature.. definitely NOT the bunging jump sort of gal..
Anyways back to my original question has ANYONE any idea of what happened to middleclassmom? I was on a VWT with her and she has disappeared.. Hoping she is OK.Looking for: Yogurt (FPCs)

There is not necessarily anything wrong with newbies running trains. My point was meant to be more along the lines of the potential level of risk being higher when we/they ride a train conducted by someone who has no track record. It is much higher than riding with a conductor who has trade ratings. (although not all of those trains are problem free)
I would like to assure newbie riders that my experience with trading has been excellent. This current situation is not typical of most trades on SC. I have been very happy with the trades I have made and hope that after all of this is sorted out they will try cutting their teeth on some smaller trades.
