I spent hours getting my lists made, organizing coupons, making my stacks, making sure I had the ads to PM, walking around looking for products. I was in a good mood, looking forward to getting a good deal and then it all crashed. As I'm putting the last of my shop on the tiny till space the cs had to ask the manager about pm'ing and coupons. He told her it's one or the other.
I replied back with my jaw dropping and telling him I've never had a problem doing it before. Well he went on and on about how too many people are PM and stacking and it's posted all over the back of the store as of who knows when, that it's pm or stacking but not both. Tells me it's always been this way but staff have been doing it wrong all along.
I told him it shouldn't matter because they get the money back from the manufacturers from coupons. The manager then said "Well we don't get anything back from PM'ing so we are losing money". OMG.... I should have said then why PM in the first place? But I didn't. He told me that all these coupons being used with price matching is getting out of hand and there has been a lot of talk about it. He told me how some lady came in last week and bought $800 worth of stuff but only paid $80. (Good for her btw!)
I mentioned how many people I know (meaning SC'ers) LOL.... have called head office or emailed asking about stacking and such and they have always been told they do allow both. The manager said well we don't do it anymore and head office has sent us the notices.
I was just fuming that everything I was about to buy would now be getting put back on the shelves. I even told him if this is the case then they are going to be losing a lot of customers because they are over priced. All he could say was yeah but we are the only store that allows multiple coupons on one product. I had to remind him again that they get that money back.
My birthday shopping was going great until going to LD. It's been hours and I'm still fuming mad! I can understand not price matching Safeway because of "club price" (Whatever!) but not allowing to price match Walmart or RCSS and use my coupons after, that's rediculous! (This was at Edmonton's 51 Ave location) The one I've shopped at for years and have spent thousands of dollars on big items. I'm not going to rave about them anymore. This thread is currently associated with: London Drugs, Real Canadian Superstore RCSS, Safeway, WalmartDon't forget to click the green up arrow if you like someones post!

I had the same experience at 2 different LDs in BC about a month ago. They said I could pricematch or I could use coupons and not both at the same time. I have since pretty much stopped shopping at LD as the one customer service lady was very rude when telling me this. Now I only shop at LD when I visit family outside the Vancouver area.

Yes I had the same experience at LD 51 ave in Edmonton as well. What PO'd me was the fact that as I walked into the store I checked with the lady at customer service if store coupons were allowed to be stacked with manufacturer coupons. She told me yes. So i went ahead the spent 2 hours shopping there. only as i went to pay (it was the same lady there) the manager stopped her and told her she can't let me stack store coupon and manufacturer coupons. then she went on and on about how coupons (any) can't be combined with PMing as well. I told her I checked at the front first before I spent all that time shopping, but she said "well obviously you didn't check with the right person. I am the manager here so you should've checked with me"- I was like, huh? It's not like you got words carved on forehead of your employees indicating which should be the knowledgeable person I should talk to, I assume all staff represent your company and therefore trust the information I was given. GOSH!!!! Anyways, I felt sorry for the customer service lady there cuz the manager bashed her right in front of me saying "Sue you should've known better!". So I didn't push the issue further cuz I didn't want Sue to get into trouble.
So anyways, this store I don't like! That manager was a rude b*tch. My Partially Complete Coupon List:

I'm going to stick with South common or at least try to. I'd really like to know what head office is saying. If there is a BIG memo in the back from them then why not post it up front for the customer to view? Needless to say I will never shop 51 Ave again.
I hope LD has a good price for Pampers next week. I was going to pm Zellers but if I can't pm and stack, then all my Pampers coupons hoarding is not going to payoff as much as I would have hoped. LOLLast edited by Divine~Miss~M; Sun, Jul 12th, 2009 at 09:23 PM.

144 views and only 2 replies. Wow. I guess people would rather reply to posts say "great job stacking" than to put their input in on the situation?

Maybe some of the people who viewed it were just curious about what happened and have nothing to add. I'm in Ontario, so I've never been to London Drugs, so I have never had a similar situation. I can't offer any insight as I have never been able to stack and PM in the same trip, because I've never been able to stack period. I am only posting because you seem to think that simply reading a topic and not posting is a terrible thing to do, although I have no clue why that would be so.

We don`t have an LD here so have never had to deal with these issues. That`s sad though in reality they do get there money back.

I PM'ed and stacked last week the cashier "forgot" how to do it so another came over to help. Its amazing how their policy changes from week to week, IMO its because they don't read it and its easier to say its changed then to actually read.

I'm in BC (Van Isl) and have been to two different LDs and told that they will not PM & accept coupons... Pick one or the other.. Was also told at one store that I have to be able to confirm that a) the items are the same (preferably with the ad) and b) the competitors store has it in stock!

At this point i would contact LD (corporate) and ask them to send you a printed version of their policy. Then I would carry it with me in my coupon book to stick it to the next rude manager that you cross. Oh, and if head office agrees with you I would go right back in, do your shopping and ask to speak directly to that manager so you can shove it in their face. Just make sure the policies aren't different for Franchises versus corporate stores.
Hahah! I do this all the time, but in regards to bringing in my Service dog. I like sticking it to people who are rude to me.Remember that even though pets are here for such a short time they teach us things we would never be able to learn in many lifetimes on our own.

I just pm'd and stacked coupons today at LD. I've never had a problem doing both. The only thing is sometimes they only let me pm the first item if I am buying multiples. This only happens with one cashier though. Today I pm'd Pampers and got 3 packages for $1. Even if they stop allowing us to do both, I will probably still do some of my shopping there because in the end I save more when stacking.

I'm in Ontario and have never had the pleasure of the LD. I'm just curious as to when this bargain-deal train is going to come to a grinding halt. I love seeing posts from LD'ers on how they PM'd and stacked and got $400 worth of product for free but nothing that good lasts.
There's a reason why different stores charge diff. prices, not everyone has the immense buying power that Walmart does. Each time you PM Walmart at LD you are creating "loss leaders" for LD- far more than they can profitably withstand.
LD may also be experiencing delays or problems recouping money from a single manufacturer on multiple coupons.
Hey enjoy it while it lasts. I don't see it continuing. Companies only continue those activities which are profitable. Nothing more nothing less.
