Not sure if anyone is watching the News but several gunmen opened fire at the Fort Hood Military Base in texas not long ago. Several dead and many wounded. The 2 suspected shooters are dead and suspected soldiers. Where they opened fire was where soldiers were undergoing physicals and medical checks for their upcoming deployment. So sad

Reported 12 dead and 31 wounded.

It is sad, and the worse part is the suspected gunmen is a Major in the US Army. Major is a higher rank so he would have been in the Army for a bit.

I just read that too and that he was also set for deployment. I have friends in the Canadian Military and Friends/Family in the US Military and the BIG difference with the troops is that in the US when troops come back a full mental assessment is optional and counselling for things such as PTS isn't available to them. Whereas here in Canada it's mandatory. I think that's a huge problem in the US Military. I'm not saying it was a contributing factor to this instance but I think the US Military fails their soldiers in that area.

This is really awful, especially the fact that fellow soldiers would shoot other soldiers. Very sad. Prayers going out to the families effected.

It's very upsetting and of course our thoughts and prayers go to those affected. In a week when we are about to celebrate the contributions and sacrifices of our military - such a sad occurance!
