I would be embarresed to tell my kids, that mom and dad met on "plenty of fish" or "lavalife"
How can I NOT respond to this??

I will NEVER be embarassed to tell my baby girl where her dad and I met. And you guessed it, we met on Plenty of Fish!

I think I may have shared my story earlier on in this thread maybe even a few yrs ago.. but it's nice to think back about it and see how far we have come.

Back track about this time of year, 2007. I was engaged to a man that I never married... A man who I had known for about 4-5 years.. a man who I had been with for 3 years.. A manwho I DID NOT MEET ONLINE.. but also a man who I obviously DID NOT KNOW... We were in the process of house hunting (mostly his idea) as we were at that point in our relationship. We bought a house for me only to find out 1 month before closing that he had been cheating on me... and that the cheating had actually been going on with the one girl and even others throughout our entire relationship. (SEE? it doesn't matter where you meet them.. the scum are just out there) Needless to say, he never moved into the house. May 2007 I moved into the place on my own and he paid his share of the bills until the next spring when my dad helped me out to purchase the house from him. I haven't seen or spoken to him since and hope to keep it that way.

January 2008, I decided that it was time for me to move on. I'm not a partier by any means and didn't really know people in the area aside from my parents and co-workers (my parents moved to this area when I was in university and I ended up where I was because of my ex). So I wasn't about to start going to bars or something to meet someone. I did have the option to try going online so that's what I did. I ended up meeting a couple of great guys and even dated one for about a month, but things just didn't work out... I was about to give up on the whole online dating thing all together until one day I came across DH. As cheesy as it is, my heart literally skipped a beat when I saw his photo for the first time. The moment I read his profile, I just knew that HE WAS THE ONE. I don't know what it was exactly, but I just knew it. I sent him a message and anxiously awaited a response. We started messaging eachother back and forth on a regular basis that March and finally met in April. He says I officially won him over with the chocolate chip cookies I made him for our first actual 'date'. hehe May 1st, 2008 we decided to close our POF profiles for good and try things out for real.. while we declared ourselves a couple. I was already happier with DH than I was in my entire 3 year relationship with my ex!

May 8, 2010 in the middle of a morning run, he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I won't go into details about that day/moment, but if you're in the lovey mood, you can read all about it here -- http://mypinkthumb.com/2010/05/13/a-...-announcement/

April 9, 2011 on the gorgeous beach of Negril, Jamaica, we were married. http://mypinkthumb.com/2011/04/29/our-wedding-day/

And now, as I sit here typing this, I am just over 25 weeks pregnant and I can look at my belly and see our first baby flipping, bumping and kicking away! A baby that we actually MADE --- TOGETHER!!

I will NEVER be embarassed to tell her how we met. And you want to know why?

Thanks to POF, I was given the chance to meet the true love of my life.

POF allowed me to meet my best friend.

POF allowed me to meet the one person that I have truely ALWAYS been able to be 100% MYSELF around.

POF allowed me to finally know/realize what true love feels like.. and SHOULD be like.

POF allowed me to meet my partner, whom without, I wouldn't have been able to make my little girl.

(yup.. preggy hormones coming out on this one LOL)

Seriously though.. there are dirtbags and creeps out there.. ANYWHERE.. you can meet them online, at a bar, from a group of friends.. it doesn't matter. They're out there.

I will forever be thankful to POF for pointing me to the man of my dreams. If I never had the courage to go on there and send him a message that day, who knows where I'd be now!

^ well actually i meant that it is nice of you to make sure they don't embarrass you

i have no qualms about internet dating, engaging, hooking up or whatever it is that makes your day.

i've had great experiences online, and never regretted one.

dating sites like LL, POF and OKC are designed for adults not children, however.
