As another group leader, that's how I feel about it. I can tell you how many people told me they shopped but that's about it.
This time around my group got once a day email updates, mainly because I could send them from my phone. If anyone had a problem with that, I never heard about it. They were all lovely and patient with me while we were sorting out our registration issues and I appreciate it.
I do get that people are anxious but you have to remember that we all have lives too.

My point was simple! . I know the rules I have read them, I just felt that if you take on that responsibility of being A team leader you should come back on the site and update the team. I guess some people say just wait till the end when we get points, but I also took my time out of my busy life to make sure to shop, so I was yes wanting to know if the team shopped too. I just see that some of the group leaders are more on top of updating then others, Im not the only one who has been posting on here what are the updates? I have seen many LOTS of members asking, and alot of the people who have been around this site for a long time, replying to their messages to wait until aug 16 or whenever the date was.. to see.. why not just update! .. why say to them wait till then. just seems sorta rude some of the messages. I am the type of person who will state how i feel, I am not trying to be rude, but be up front with how i feel about the whole thing. I might think twice about it next year, i am not happy with some of the rude reply's. if someone emailed me and i was the team leader I would just email them back with what info I had. thats all not with sorta rude messages i got.. I wasn't so happy! I am a happy person all the time.! and feel others should be the same towards people in life! ..

and I realize that we may not know the final results until aug 16th but most of the time if someone in your group took the time to post that they shopped they did! .. most people aren't going to waste their time lying for nothing.! ..
so even if you say yes group whatever # shopped it helps put our minds at ease and lets us go about our next line of duty in our busy lives!I really need 8 Dempsters PINS will need until FEB 15 and will trade for G.C $5 your choice where

Everyone needs to realize that with some 300 people in about 30 groups here - it's simpler and easier on everyone to just email your group leader and ask for an update.
I am a group leader and have been for several times now. I could post that yes my group all shopped, then one of my members will come on looking for that update from me and my post is lost in a mess of 299 others - so the question gets asked all over again. If they just emailed me directly, they get their response without wading through all the posts. Simple as can be. I would rather respond to an email from one of my assigned 10 than wade through this thread constantly.Last edited by AmberLab; Fri, Aug 14th, 2009 at 07:19 PM.

What's the role of the group leader? to email the referral link to their members, answer any questions that members may have, transfer the points when they receive them all. I don't think they are required to post here everyday what the status is, and even then people would miss it and ask over and over anyway. How about everyone shop like they are supposed to and no one will have to ask the status question!
I was a group leader once, and I did updates, but that's cause I chose to, it was fun for me, I don't blame anyway for not wanting to do this. Maybe they do it in their own way, like texting like someone pointed out.
Last time around, I remember not many people volunteered to be group leaders, I suspect that happened this time around too. Maybe if you want updates, you should volunteer to next time.

Can it not also be said then that you are perfectly able to read through the thread, find the posts from your team members and determine who did or didn't shop?
Some choose to update often, some can't.. but ALL the leaders also "took time from their busy lives" to shop as well as run and organize the groups and deal with any issues that may arise.
This has always been a great and successfull event on SC with few problems and largely from what I have seen all that is asked of us is to shop and be patient. I don't think that is too much to ask. Cyanne goes through an extrodinary amount of work to run this for us. I think it doesn't take much from everyone else to be patient until points are awarded and any issues can be addressed then.

I understand you want to know, I'm simply pointing out that I could spam this thread with updates every hour on the hour and those updates could still be wrong. I know it seems unlikely that someone would lie about having shopped but if you read through some of the threads from previous events you'll see that it does happen, more often than you might think. Some group leaders probably find it easier to just not update rather than telling the group that 10/10 shopped and later dealing with angry group members who got fewer points than they were expecting.

Mr. Disco has been doing a fine job keeping us updated. He sent PMs to those he hadn't heard from to check their status and posted all the info he had. Those who didn't respond right away may have just sent an email to Cyanne as our group was instructed to do and may not be constantly checking their messages. As long as they shopped, they did what they were supposed to do. And the problem is NOT with Mr. Disco.

Remember, by shopping, this promo only entitles you to 5000 points. But because of Cyanne and the group leaders who generously volunteered their time to set up the groups, you are receiving the extra points. You would not have gotten this otherwise, so you should consider any referral points to be a *bonus*, even if you don't get the full amount.
If updates are important to you, perhaps you should volunteer to be a group leader.... then you could update everyone to your heart's content.

I would like to say something about the comments made by several people about leaders not posting updates. As a leader for the second time, and this time I have 2 groups as there wasn't enough volunteers for group leaders, it is very difficult to keep updating this thread. The leaders have to do alot, and we actually spend alot of time doing this, and our only extra reward is that we get an extra 5000 points. I could easily get that, and more, by referring friends and family, and not doing it here. However, I do enjoy this website, and want to help out. Cyanne is amazing, keeping everything all straight, and I wouldn't do her job for anything! Here's a little info for those of you who haven't been leaders before about what the 'job' entails. The leaders must email everyone, send them the invitation, send emails to people that haven't sent a confirmation email yet, then send a reminder to everyone to shop. Then we must email those people on the last day of the shop to make sure that they remember to shop, and email the people that don't get back to us. Then when the points are rewarded, we must transfer them to everyone's account. Then I do something that maybe other leaders might not do, and I email everyone to tell them that their points were transferred, and make sure that they received them and to email me back. Then I usually have to follow up on a few to see if they got their points, as everyone doesn't reply to your emails. So, there's alot of work for the 5000 bonus points, or approx $7 worth of extra points. And I agree with others who say that it doesn't really matter how many people said that they shopped, because it all comes down to if the correct amount of points are awarded. I agree with Rachel1496 who says that if the correct points aren't awarded, that people will get angry, so why not just wait until you get your points. So, in other words, if you don't like the fact the your leader isn't updating the thread regularly, maybe you should consider what all has to go into the position, and put your name down as a group leader next time around, and then maybe you can keep your group updated regularly and see how much work it really is. That's probably why there weren't enough leaders this time around, as people who have done it before, know how much work it is, and they just don't want to bother. Hope that no one is offended by my posting, but what I said is true, and I've been here long enough to know what's going on.
