I had a 12 pack of diet pepsi SCOPed at RCSS today, they only refunded me the $3.50 purchase price but not the $1.20 deposit or enviro fee. Is this correct? I didn't want to make a big deal cause it had taken so long to get the $3.50 in the first place and DD was starting to get cranky.

I've never had to deal with this but I would think you would still have to pay these. We get the deposit back when we return the cans so that covers that part of it anyways

Yea, that would be right, because if they refunded you the deposit fee, you'd still be able to get the deposit fee back when you go to return the cans/bottles...

Tax seems to depend on where you buy it. Is this a provincial thing?

Since when do you pay deposit on cans? Regular pop cans? Or is that just out west?

We don't have a deposit, just a $.02 enviro levy on anything like pop cans & bottles, etc. But we also don't make any money back by recycling them

I live in Alberta and I have to pay the deposit and the enviro levy on all pop cans/bottles, alcohol, milk (4L plastic and 2L carton), yogurt bottles (ie. Danactive). I don't return them to the bottle depot I just give them to my parents 'cause they recycle and I'm too lazy. In a way I do recycle 'cause I give them to my parents who like to recycle stuff. LOL
