I'm not sure if the OP was referring to this or something else, but if its this way it doesn't bother me, I really don't think about it. Some people don't even realize they can give thumbs up or are forgetful so a light nudge doesn't hurt imo.

I don't like it. Seems rude. But that is so Canadian of us, isn't it? We are generally so polite. Voted no.

I do post "Thanks in advance for any reps or thumb's up" when I'm able to post flyers. I didn't realize that this was offensive or crass and was unaware that thumb's up were related to gifts/prizes (I haven't been named a top deal poster/bragger ... LOL, I don't think I've ever posted a brag). Are reps also gift/prize related? I thought they were just pretty coloured bars/stars/hearts.

Anyways, my bad, and I hope I haven't permanently scarred anyone in the process.

I haven't asked before but I did post a thread once reminding people in the brag section that if they liked it to give a thumbs up to everyone. I didn't have any brags going on at that time so I wasn't worried people would think I was "campaigning" for thumbs up.

I gives thumbs up as soon as I view a brag so that I don't forget. As for the top brag winnings I have won a few but never kept any. I give them away.

I have never asked nor will I ever (I am way too humble and modest to ask for creditfor anything!) but have received many thumbs up on my posts thanks to you generous souls out there and appreciate and am grateful for that, but when I post, I don't expect anything in return, and I think that's the way it should be Just a friendly place to share your adventures with friends! (Ok, I know that sounds hokey, but that's how I feel!)

TO each their own. Doesn't really bother me. But were not exactly a rude board that would give 20 negs for asking for a thumbs up if you liked the post.

For me, worded in this way is fine... thanking in advance

It's more when people say "Please thumb up this thread!!!" and the like.

It kind of comes across as the same as when people make repeated reference to their referral links in their signature; "Check it out! You may see something you like!!!" etc in every post they make.

For me it's all in the way it's worded imho

Is it better to thumb up or give rep? I always give thumbs up if I like the deal/contest but if it's something that I really love I give rep. But I really have no clue what benefits the poster most. I use thumbs up on contests posts so I know if I've entered.

I find that if someone ask I tend not too.. I give the thumbs up if I feel the poster had a great brag or posted something of interest to me..
