This is a very sad article, I feel very bad for the poor dog. I hope they do something with this kid before he does more killing. What would make a young boy or anyone do anything so horrible? Goes to show you should never leave your pets unattended and tied up for so long...I apologize if it makes you feel bad

Child too young for charges in animal's death

An eight-year-old boy in Newfoundland has admitted to killing a neighbour's dog with a barbecue fork, according to the Gander and area SPCA.
The boy, who lives near Carmanville, located about 400 km north of St.
John's, admitted he killed the dog after neighbours found their pet Pomeranian dead early this month, SPCA manager Bonnie Harris said.
The owners found the 8-year-old black dog dead when they returned home. The dog had been tied up in the yard on a long lead, Harris told QMI Agency.
The owners initially believed the dog had died of natural causes, although wondered about the blood they saw on the dog's face.
But they were too shocked and upset to investigate further and buried the dog right away, Harris said.
When neighbours learned of the dog's death, one woman came forward and said she'd seen something the night the dog died that may have been related to its death, Harris said.
"She had seen a young child with a red-handled instrument beating the ground, what she thought was the ground, she didn't know the dog was there," Harris said.
The SPCA was called about the dog's death last week, and a preliminary autopsy report showed that the dog died from blunt force trauma to the head, Harris said.
When confronted, the boy admitted that he had killed the dog and identified the red-handled instrument as a barbecue fork, Harris said.
In 14 years at the Gander SPCA, Harris said she has never seen anything like this.
"It's quite a shock, I think, to everybody," she said.
Because the boy is younger than 12, he can't be charged. RCMP have referred the case to the provincial department of Child, Youth and Family services.
The SPCA, out of concern for other animals in the community, is also continuing their investigation.

OMG. That child needs help in the worst sort of way. Either than or he needs to be institutionalized, forever.

I wonder about the kids parents! I know some kids are just wired wrong and are evil no matter what but I've never met a cruel kid who wasn't in some way taught or supported/enabled by the parents. Very sad!

Hope everyone had a wonderful day.

The SCer meet was fun, as usual. It was lovely meeting Strat-Man, although I have to apologize for the stunned silence. We're not used to having a gentleman in our midst. I hope you didn't mind being outnumbered by girls?

    Night all.
