Okay, aside from some higher priced items, the Optimum points program is one of the best reward programs out there AND you run into some really great deals...more often now that they've really beefed up their weekend promotions!
So, on an earlier trip to SDM I scored the following:
-1,860 points (includes 1200 bp for alberto products and 200 for Dove chocolate, purse pack)
- 16 Old Spice (this was the $1.49 Old Spice sale and I had a ton of the save $3 WUB 2 coupons to us up!)
hubby gets a couple and rest are for shelter donations
- used a $5 wub 3 carlton cards, so paid full price for one and got the other two for probably $1 or so each. Nice cards too!
- used a $10 SDM GC that I got for free, just for applying for the SDM mastercard. a rep was giving them out a few weeks ago!
Actual bill total was just over $60
Used $40 in coupons and GC
So got all that, plus some other items not mentioned above for $20!!!
AND I bought three of the 2x points Lays chips (small bags) and it was worth 10points each for the Lays Chip Trips promotion - so for a little over $3 I'm getting the $5 GC for Subway!!
Way cool! Can't wait for bonus redemption day!

Thanks avoncallingyou...and I will give credit where it is due --- SC has helped me so much since I joined in December. I thought I was scoring pretty good deals when I became more of a serious couponer during my mat leave in 2008 but it's nothing compared to all the stuff I've learned and gained on SC over the last 5 months. I knew nothing of coupon trains prior to SC, now I've done 4 of them and they were all awesome. And I have to thank bigmomma, who'sdrivingme? and another SCer whose name I forget right now (sorry!) for helping me build up the stash of Old Spice coupons! and between SC trades and my own mail-ins for the Post Share the Joy promotion, I have $40 worth of coupons to use for Carlton Cards!
My new rule: Before I look anywhere else, I look on SC first!
Thanks Boo, moderators and everyone who contributes to this community. It fantabulous!!!!

It DOES rock for prices sometimes and everyone always complains that prices are high! I can't get milk cheaper than there (in our town), and I just bought a ton of lever soap for $1.49 for 4 bars which I can't find ANYWHERE (would have been better if I had the $1 coupons!) and bought herbal essences for $1.50 with $1 coupons that I printed specifically for SDM - you just have to watch, and grab their good sales AND get tons of points leading to tons of free things :D
