Heh, I saved this from the weekend paper and posted it in the office lunch room, since management was not getting around to communicating to anyone what is going on despite being asked several times by different people.

Queen's Park is at least walkable from the security zone, unlike Trinity Bellwoods. That was just ridiculous.

Yeah, I was surprised they'd close the PATH too.

However, knowing the threats they normally get with this sort of thing - which have no doubt increased since the economy got supremely weird - I can't say I'm surprised by any of the stuff they're doing.

Although it does seem a little much to be thinking about removing bike stands. I guess they think people might chain themselves to them...

And it turns out I may not be going to BC after all.
Chain themselves to the bike stands... I guess people really feel strongly about this G20 stuff, eh?

I understand though, I feel very strongly about coupons. Not that I'd ever chain myself to something for the sake of coupons.

Ah poo, sorry to hear that you're not going to BC.

A lot of the removal of items like newspaper boxes and the stands is due to fear of them being used as projectiles...

I can see it now, we'll all be chaining ourselves to the cash register the next tme the cashier & store manager tells us we can't use a coupon at SDM.

Is anyone aware of the specific issues that people are protesting?

It can't be just the Canadian economy... I mean we've come out relatively unscathed compared to those on the world stage... and we're usually nice and polite and mind our own business.

So what has everyone so fired up? I need to know what to paint on my placard at home tonight.

G20 is international so everything from wars, foreign relations, economy, Obama not being white, Harper not looking people in the eye

Generally, anti capitalist protesters will show up for the G20 no matter where it is or what they are discussing, and now we can add the group who are bringing people from all over Canada to protest the use of sound cannons at the G20 protests, and the people protesting the amount of money spent on security who by protesting are adding to the cost,
