I attest to their weight in gold! Lactation consultant will try to encourage you NOT to get one because they don't want the babies to be lazy (weak latch) but hey, my babies + my boobs = MY decision. I got the nipple shield without her knowledge (the NICU nurse suggested it). And the consultant freaked out when I introduced both bottle & breast AT THE SAME TIME!!! She doesn't get the fact that I have 3 kids and only 2 boobs. At any given time, one of them have to be bottle-fed (with breast milk).

In short, do what works for you! Keeping our fingers crossed for your announcement. Maybe just get hubby to call one of us and we'll spread the news!
