would love to get it done cause i know it can only get worse as i get older and i fear the legally blind thing big time since im not far off but i think i might be too chicked to do it LOL

i have this fear of being the small percentage of people that it backfires on or something worse otherwise i would have it done tomorrow LOL

Rose -- I've been wearing glasses since I was 7, and contacts since I was 14.. I am 6.25 in both eyes, and have been since I was about 22. I have thought about laser surgery many times, but I'm really scared of it too. My Aunt had it done, and had to go back to get it fixed 3 or 4 times because the flap on her eye wouldn't heal right. I'm just scared of going to get it fixed, and wrecking my eyes. I know all the statistics, but still... eyes are so delicate. So you are not alone feeling scared but also wanting it really bad. I am blind as a bat without my glasses/contacts.

I think if you decided to do it most places would make you wait, anyway.. lots of places in this area won't do it till you are at least 24, and have had the same prescription for at least 2 years. It sure has come down in price a lot though!

I used to drive into London each week to donate plasma but now that we're down to 1 vehicle I try to fit it in whenever I can. (I try for every 2 weeks) With blood donations you have to wait almost 2 months before you can donate again but with plasma it's only 6 days. It takes the same amount of time to do either one - I'm usually in and out in little over an hour. Last year I aksed them if I should stick to whole blood rather than just the plasma but even though 1 pint of blood can be used by up to 3 people, they have a great demand for just the plasma when a lot of it may be needed for just 1 person.
I'm also signed up at the OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow Network. There is a good chance that they will never call me but if I can save someone's life by giving something I have lots of, I'm all for it.

I used to donate plasma a lot when I was a nurse, because we knew how badly needed it was. I still donate blood, but I can never find that lengthy time slot to donate plasma. You deserve a big hug for getting in there as often as you do

rose: the little plastic nose thing usually has screws that can be adjusted to suit yer honker that girl just didn't want to do it.

i have one ear that's higher than another. it's nasty trying to get glasses that fit.

mine dont have screws they snap in so they have to be bent back or in or whatever to make them tight or loose she was just lazy she kept saying they looked fine but thats not what i was telling her haha so will do it monday cause we figured we may as well get it done where i bought them in case they broke them at walmart or something cause they are brand new dont want that cause they were freaking expensive LOL

DH had Lasik done, and he loves it!! He had about the same prescription as you do, Rose, and he is at 20/20 with no correction now. He had it done about 3 years ago now, and he has absolutely no regrets. However, he was on the border with whether or not he could get it done because of the slope of one of his eyes. The head surgeon had to do a consult and he had it done the "old" way (they just remove the flap, instead of putting it back after the laser), so his healing time was a little longer than most people's.

I got glasses when i was 9 and didnt really start wearing them all the time till i was about 11 or 12 cause i hated them and if i could see a bit i wouldnt wear them LOL now i dont have a choice so very blind without them my perscription hasnt changed since i was 18 so around two years and im pretty much the same way freaked out that i would be that small percent of people that it wouldnt work or would make my eyes worse even though i have read all the good stuff about it just freaks me out LOL

btw everyone my b-day is TOMORROW! but I have rehearsal so probably wont be around so thanks everyone my dad took us out to swiss chalet for my b-day supper since i have never been there before and it was awesome really expensive though LOL
