I don't want to rain on your parade but do you have to pay tax on your win? When we go to the casino in the USA we do then we apply in Canada to get it back

Congrats NSAngel!!!!!!
You shouldn't have to pay tax on your win since it is less than $2000 and it was won in a contest/sweepstakes. That is how it works in most Canadian provinces. Good that your lawyer will notarize it for you, since all notaries charge at least a small fee.
Congrats again! I am so pleased for you
All drugged up, dragging myself back to bed now. It took all the effort in my little paws to type that... lol

Congrats NSAngel!
I can't wait to hear what you got!
I didn't have to have a signed affy, because it was $150 value, however, I've heard of some sponsors requiring it for a small prize. I know someone that won a Hotwheels car, once, worth $0.99 USD, and had to have a notarized form, which cost her $5 to have done. Depends on the sponsor, I guess, but that one seemed quite silly to me.
Thanks for the words everyone!

Just so everyone knows and sorry im late for replying but many members of parliament can sign legal documents as notary. I have used mine for documents who is a friend for many years and I worked for him as a co-op in high school.
congrats on the win though, glad to see all of us ganging up on the rest made a difference and that you won. cant wait to see or hear what you actually got.

christine, if you wanna fly down here, and u don't mind a mess, u can certainly stay with me. just pm me if your seriously comming down. don't worry about when i bbq in the winter.
ya, i'm like that..too friendly. anyone else?
bring tents, i'm running outta rooms my son hasn't destroyed.
i will definitely take pics, and i suspect that if the prize contains toys or hardfood, she is not going to appreciate it. she's 18, with few teeth left. what could they possibly send worth $500? rhinestone collar?
i have something up my sleeve tooo..but lets wait and see what comes.
