I joined a bunch of 'survey' groups a few years ago and out of them all Hotspex, TNS and Pinecone Research are the best.
http://www.hotspex.com - they have the most interesting surveys out of all the ones I do. The points I received from the surveys I used to transfer into cash, into my Futura account. I closed my Futura account last year and a few weeks ago was the first time I used some of my points to enter the contests.
http://www.tns-cf.com/panel/ - they occasionally send out products to be tested. I've received 4 boxes of HoneyComb cereal, 2 boxes of Alphabits and Bounty papertowels. I know there's more but I can't think of them.
http://www.pineconeresearch.com/- This one is tougher to join than the others because 1) they have to be actively recruiting members
    2) you need a referral from another member
    3) not everyone will qualify
They pay $5 per survey and send you a check right away. I waited for a year before someone told me that they were looking for members and even though I've been with them for almost a year I've never received anything saying they are recruiting again.

On another note, 2 other sites to go to are:
http://www.bzzagent.com/ - What this site does is send you products & coupons for you and others to try them out. Then you talk about it to your friends/family/co-workers etc, get their feedback (bzzz about it) and write a report about it. In the past few years I've received a $120 Sonicaire electric toothbrush, Crest Whitestrips, Nabob Coffee (and more) and I'm expecting to receive Silk Soy milk.
http://www.shoppers-voice.com/ - Ever receive those survey's in the mail from someone named Diane? Make sure to fill them out! Although it can take months to receive anything, in the past I've received high value coupons, FPC's and samples of products based on my answers to the surveys.

Amycrows - I know what you mean about the economic crunch. Downsizing in the auto economy has me panicing because I babysit from home so I have no benefits. DH has been off work for a month and I only get paid once a month so it's been hard. I had to get our MP & MPP involved because we're getting jerked around by WSIB. I've already warned my 11 year old (who'se getting the DS) that there will be mostly little stuff under the tree this year, nothing major. He knows that he already has LOTS of stuff (I like to remind him that he's spoiled) so he's not too concerned.
DH surprised me last night though. I had to get him to sign the release form before I could fax it back (it needed to be witnessed) and he asked me if I was going to give HIM the DS as a late birthday gift.
    NOT!!!

Anyway, this is a long ramble and if anyone is looking for more info (I'm full of useless info!!), send me a pm.

    Congrats!!

One question? What are Hotspex points, and where would I find them??

JODE: congrats! that's fantastic. my son would like that. enjoy

Amycrows: chickey..just ask yourself why you even care. don't worry about it. it's not your problem. whatever comes of it they'll deal with. just worry about your own family and not the inlaws. your hubby will have to stop letting them crap on him himself. <<<huggs>>>

REBATE: i hopes ya had a rockin' birthday. i didn't have a chance to visit the tearoom (yet), but i posted something on your profile page. My head has been going in diff directions yesterday. it's nuts.

found out that yes MILK/LACTOSE is one of the culprits. after my sinuses finally cleared, i stayed clear of milk/milk products. then i ate a pc of cheese. one hour later COULD NOT hear a damn thing. sinuses blocked right up. still waiting for it to clear, and still avoiding milk!

so that's 2 intolerances lactose, and sugar...so far.

pretty soon they can just give me a megavitamin and call it supper.

Thanks for all the new words everyone. I agree with jodew71 about hotspex, I've had good luck with it. Every once in a while I cash out my points from hotspex and into points. From the points program I can trade the hotspex points for something I want. I have always received the points transfer quickly...knock on wood
