My city of Saskatoon has the largest indoor service in the country, but I'm unable to go. We'll watch it on local cable, combined with watching the commemoration from Ottawa. I always find it very touching.

4 of my children are in Sea Cadets and will be participating in the ceremonies this morning. They're all in uniform now and we'll be heading out in about 20 minutes.

I hope future generations will continue to remember, as we will today.
Always remember the What are you thankful for today? thread as there always is something to be thankful for.

I can't go to the services either - I get way to emotional to go alone. I watch on tv & can be as emotional as I have to. I always find it a really hard day to get through

To the older veterans and those who today are far away from home, having put “their dreams on hold to make a difference in our world, bringing peace and assisting citizens around the world to rebuild their lives, we honour and salute them," Malin said. “Many of our young men and women have lost their lives in this great cause and they, too, are our heroes."
At the end of the service, a little girl in a pink winter coat slapped a high-five with veteran Allan Tanner.
The Halifax man, now 85 and in a wheelchair, served in the merchant marine during the war. He and his brothers somehow all made it home.
“She said, ‘Thank you,’ " Tanner said as the tears began spilling down his cheeks.
The girl was a total stranger, he said, but her gratitude “meant everything."
