I volunteered in a food bank for a while and one thing that they we always short of were personal items. They were handing out boxes of kleenex instead of toilet paper as people hadn't donated those items. Diapers and sanitary pads were always on the wanted list as well. As at the end of the day, we all need to keep clean no matter how little money we have.

I belong to another forum as well (in addition to this one) so with the coupon tips i've learned on here. and a challenge we had set on the other forum..my hubby and I donated two full boxes of baby food and health and beauty items.. the lady was ASTOUNDED.. she said you have NO idea how badly we need these items.. it felt great.. just a little goes a long way.. we don't have the space to store alot. so instead were going to try and do monthly drop offs.. and as the other forum also has monthly dinners out.. thinking of asking them if they want to combine it a little and have a donation added to the dinner out. then will take it the next day to the shelters. I think all of us SC'ers deserve a round of applause. YAY. !!

ps this week the youth shelter got 1 tide 1 bounce 4 mens 4 ladies deodorants 2 toothbrushes 6 toothpastes kleenex and christmas candies most free(LD)plus tax or 90% OFF..
It is easy to get ramped up to give during the Seasin of Goodwill,tougher to keep it going all year..keep us inspired Patty!!!

Rather save for larger donations for my final yr end goal. I think this is my practice and learn yr and next yr maybe I can run a week by week progress report as you are doing. I think it's good for advertisment of supporting all the different groups that can be helped out there. I look forward to seeing your weekly progress (and love how you survived the Bud Lightyear, could have gone bad trip and it turned out so well, you were all happy to repeat).
