I had a Samsung point and shoot, I had high hopes since I love their laptops (just got my second one, and my first one lasted all 4 years of university), but alas, it sucked. I need a new one too, probably going to look at SDM and use what little points I have to bring the total down...

If you're really tight on budget and want to get a "OK" one, then you can go to XSCargo, they normally sell it for less than 70$ for a 14mp, and less than 50$ for a 12mp.

I got to say, I haven't bought any camera from them before, so I can't really tell you if it's good or not.
I've gotten more than 300$ of gift cards. You can also do so by joining swagbucks:

I like any of the Canon powershot cameras under $200, they all take great photos and last a long time.

Watch out for refurbished items, they're okay generally but no warranty from the company.

We had an Olympus, and thought it was totally fine, then got a Kodak EasyShare Z915 - and it TOTALLY is amazing! Awesome pics, and the batteries last forever! It's 10x.

It was on sale at SDM for 99, and got it free with points.
