Yesterday I went shopping at my Local IGA Marketplace They had some deals and I had some coupons!Anyway I bought 46 items and had coupons to go with most
Most unusual for me!The cashier was great I was keeping my eye on her and she seem to be getting all coupons right and doing it really fast! Get to the end of my bill and I pay and leave.(I was in a bit of a hurry)I did not look at my bill until I got home and started to unload. At the bottom of my bill it said coupons used 20X$0.50. Total coupons used $10.00.I thought I did not have that many $0.50 coupons! And I used more like $30.00 in coupons. Back to the store I go........(I never in the world thought that I would ever do this BUT.) Anyway the cashier that I used was in the office.I said "You are not going to be happy to see me. I have a problem with the coupons I used" I showed her my bill and see agreed that it was wrong. She went back to here till and got my coupons out. They were all mine as she had no other coupons that day. She added them up and it came to $33.50. The manager then showed up with a detailed print out from the main frame for that transaction and it showed that ALL of my coupons were entered correctly but tallied wrong at the end.He told her to refund me the difference and said they would try and figure out why the computer did this! I felt REALLY shi**y for the cashier but it was not her fault or mine. I actually felt bad all night for doing this(I live in a small town) But today I am OK with it. It was money owed to me.Anyway I will know when everyone runs and hides when I walk in the stor in the future
I also learned a good lesson. Make sure you look at the receit before you go HOME!

Great story. And don't feel bad. They were your coupons and the money back should have been yours.

It takes courage, but you did the right thing. I find since becoming part of SC I have learned to be more courageous in this area. Good for you!

Well done! Interesting situation, though - that the computer goofed!

Great for you! I always check my reciept before I leave the store now! Last week at SDM the cashier rang in a $10off Everpure as $1.00 & I caught it & got $9.xx in change back!

Good job going back and rechecking, now the problem can be fixed for the next customer who may not have been as diligent as you.

Be a little kinder than necessary, remember everyone is fighting their own battles.

I think you definetly did the right thing by going back. Also, you shouldn't feel bad, you weren't rude or mean about it, just pointing out a computer error to them, which will save you and their other customers from issues down the road
I am wondering if their tills are only programmed to accept $20 in coupons and then they need an override, and maybe the cashier and manager weren't aware of this? Maybe they had never encountered an SC'er before who used more than $20 in coupons

Awesome shopping!
I think that you helped them and you should feel good about going back to let them know. And feel good for yourself too because you and your family deserve your money more than the store
