Soo... today was baaaddd.. Im actually "bragging" about T.H.E worst possible shopping experience.. To think that i've been a member since July of last year and manage to screw up like this .... Wowza

Me and DH had seperated in october so I almost only lived on my stash and got a couple things here and there and now he came back.. 4 months later and I restarted work.. so double the food plus bag lunches and all.. we went through the entire house or almost.. when the time for groceries came I had unplanned expenses that popped up and had to wait 1.5 weeks to go do the the shopping soo things got E.M.P.T.Y Therefore I had to shop for everything.. apart from diapers and detergent and a couple things .. i basically needed all....
foil, diaper genie refills, meat, produce, snacks, cheese, milk, dog food, wipes... e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. It ended up costing me ..

    GULP

    250+/-
I went to many places and got everything on sale .. used coups where i could.. not too many cause i didnt seem to have a coup for stuff that was on sale.. sales were crappy ... and i got so much produce and those dont take coups .. but they were all on sale...

The only good deals i got were

    LINDT store:

3 Free big boxes of choc WUB1 (DH and i thought we read wrong) but we didnt so we got 30$ of choc for 1 10$ box.

    Free Gilette shampoo with blades

free v8 cans with x$ purchase @ metro

    diaper genie 2for 12$ PM babies r us - 2x 1$ coup - SPC 10% (my only good deal.... )

and thats pretty much it .. used some coups but honestly nothing extravagant ...

lesson learned : Buy before you run out.. Now however I have SOOOO much i can just get the specials from now on..

I got all on sale. . imagine i hadnt and just got everything at one store.. It wouldve cost me 500+.. So i did the best i could with the situation but im soooo dissapointed shopping without coups and good deals makes me soo frustrated...

Oh i forgot to mention .. go DD some AWESOME shoes and a new diaper bag.. im ecstatic about the new bag .. so many compartments . .. the other one was horrible .. it was like one big messy tote..

(the only thing i had in the stash was diapers, cleaning products, detergent, smellies, pasta and sidekicks.. no other food items.. not frozen not canned not fresh .. nothing.)

anyhow.. what do you guys think of my today's adventure .. brag or unbrag ???

I think its a good lesson lol. Let's look on the bright side.. never never never will i let the stash empty out..

**edit .. when i say 250$+ thats not including DD shoes and bag.. eek

    Ah!

Well, reading your "unbrag" made me chuckle! So you and dh making the marriage work?! Good for you!

Good to see a lesson was learned and you are here to share that with SC! I know it will help some! I try so hard to plan ahead and if I am getting low on something, be on the lookout for sales, coupons, deals, etc. 95% of the time... it works out QUITE well!!

Thanks for sharing!!! Missed seeing your posts for a while there!!

your curcumstances changed , so that is why you used your stash up. So dont stress over it you will be there in no time. My girlfriend looked at my stash oneday and told me use it up ,dont buy anything more. I cant live like that, still have to keep buying as long as something is on sale and i have a coupon i will buy it. The other night when i was at her house , she told me if you use the washroom the kleenex is there , i would never run out of tiolet paper never have , also she makes a lot more income in her household, i always say its what you do with what you make in life- and i can stretch a dollar for sure. -Thanks for being so open and sharing your story.

I always do grocery shops for $250 PLUS.. LOL But it keeps us happy, with food we like to eat, and healthy food costs more - so oh well.

Can't always use a coupon ;( (even though I wish I could). I figure we save so much on toilet paper/hygiene/diapers/bath/ etc. that it doesn't matter, we can still eat like kings.

    Everything is expensive nowadays.

I just have to remember not to compare myself to others on here when I shop. some people get wicked deals but I dont' have the stash or sometimes they live on teh other side of the country.

I would say that you and DH getting back together and saving money with what you could is a def brag!!

Don't feel bad you did the best you could in your circumstances. Sometimes we plan for the unexpected but the unexpected leads us to a different road. When you need certain things you need them and have to pay the price(ie/diapers)due to the cost of living and it is out of our control. Best wishes for you & your DH for a springtime of new beginnings.

I think you did a great job considering you needed the things you bought. It takes to make a stash but it certainly makes things easier when circumstances change. Its your life and ummmm hurdles can destroy a couple or make them stronger I hope for your family strength and happiness, and a big stash.

Yes, you did okay for what you had to buy - and the next times you do better will make up for it!
I've had this happen to me too, but on a way smaller scale.
My un-brag was Saturday making supper I was totally floored to find out I had no cream of mushroom soup (usually have a case, and knew stash was low, but went with a raincheck twice last week and store was out...) - anyway, I needed two cans, sent son across the street to the convenience store (I KNOW!!!) 1.49 each can - ouch!
Then went yesterday and got two cases at 4.99 each.

You have a brag and not really an unbrag. You are and husband is a good thing. You have your stash to help you threw the lean times. Think of the unbrag if you didn't have your stash to start with. Now that you are back to work you can work up you stash again !!!
