Quartet dry erase calendar: $4 (Retails for $10 at Staples)
Hello Kitty messenger bag: $4. It's pretty big, about 16 inches across. I've seen similar ones for $20.

Also, those video game busts a few posts up (you can only see part of the box in that picture) retailed for $25-$32!

Overall, most of the $4 items I saw were things that would have been $3 previously. Still some decent buys, but I think I'll be buying less from now on.

So j pay way more attention. Not to mention so much of their stuff is just crap. I didn't mind buying the kids a toy there while we're out but not anymore. I'm not paying $3-$4 for a piece of junk that will fall apart. And half the toys are cheaper from Walmart! Toy cars cheaper! Anyway bad move in my opinion. Won't be getting much business from me anymore. So many big box stores have comparable BETTER stuff. I bought a bunch of party decorations for my boys birthday only to find stuff CHEAPER and nicer at Walmart. So lesson learned.

I agree. There are shopping options to get $1 at big retailers. I saw a 'Dollar Spot' section at a Giant Tiger this week. They had some back to school items including 24 pk Crayola crayons for $0.75.

And other stores accept returns. When paying $3 or $4 I would like the option of returning items

Saw a few Disney Infinity toys for $4.

I picked up the Rapunzel, they also had Violet & Dash...and I believe one other one, but I can't remember what it was.

I like the unexpected deals at Dollarama, not the items that are $1 and $2 that are also the exact same price at every other store.
Really couldn't agree with you more with the above assessment Anisa...So far as I observe at this point in time anyway. I'm just hoping they are still testing out new suppliers and more exciting finds will be coming our way at Dollarama.

Yes, at these new price points I will now be hesitating with purchases if I cannot return defective merchandise. At a buck or two, the odd bad item didn't matter much...

I have spotted some items with new price tags over the old (e.g., $3.50 over $3.) I am hoping these price hikes aren't just inflation and the falling Canadian dollar....Last year when it was announced on Smartcanucks that Dollarama would be introducing the $4 price point I went a bit nuts stocking up on a lot of faves in anticipation (clocks, hand towels, pillow cases...whatever I could think of would likely go up in price.)
