Thread: Regarding Gift Exchanges

Actually the majority of package exchanges are done in the coupon train thread. The are usually 2-3+ running now at any given time.
I agree that there are too many running but its sad that they will be cut back so much (ie, only for major holidays). There are so many great exchanges and great riders, and it's always sad when a 1 or 2 ruin it for all the others.
Not sure if it would be possible but could maybe 1 person take on the job of being the official SC package exchange conductor? And only have that person hosting exchanges? That way they could host one at a time and start a new one only when that one is finished (ie, a little more frequently than just major holidays)?
I know Jezzebelle runs quite a few package trains and is really organized, not sure if she'd be interested but I think she'd be a fantastic choice if it's possible to have an official SC package exchange conductor.
Just an idea.

I am also wondering what happened to the Mother's Day card exchange.

just saw this now
I won't be hosting further trains without requesting permission....I have had all passengers recieve gifts on my trains as well as prizes. I think I have had maybe 3 times where a gift was not sent on time but although it is not my responsibility (disclaimer) I have either given a gift to that rider or sent the rider a wish pkge myself so no rider goes without.
I don't think it is fair to limit the types of trains we can run...we all know the rules when we join and that their may be a slim chance we won't get a gift...but if the conductor does their homework the trains should run smoothly...
I think there are more trades going wrong than Pkge trains honestly....If gift trains are going to be limited....is the same going to apply to Auctions ?? G.C trades or Stamp trades?? cause really there is no difference...
side note:
In the Neg Thread there are more unhappy Sc'ers who lost out on High Value TRADES than not recieving a wish pkges from trains they joinedLast edited by Jezebel; Wed, Apr 13th, 2011 at 10:47 PM.

We are not saying they have to stop. We are asking that you contact Amberlab before running one. Back when this first started they were controlled, only certain people ran them and there was a blacklist of people not allowed to join. Now everyone runs them, theres no permission asked, nothing. Unforunately when theres 8 exchanges going on at once its far too easy for one person to join them all and not send out anything in return. Its also more then "1 or 2" members. Theres probably been at least 50 instances of people not sending out their ends. Were trying to protect our members.
Exchanges can still go on, we just need to cool it down a bit and space them out

I didn't know about this & I started a gift exchange two weeks ago. I feel like I went against what was being said, but because I don't come into this part of SC I didn't see it until just now. Oops.

Yeah, I really think this should be in the coupon trains subforum. The majority of people dont come into this section enough to see this thread. I know I barely ever come in here since it's mostly people saying "Hi, I'm new" now.

I only saw the post cause I clicked on "new posts"tab otherwise I wouldn't have known about this thread.... but am glad we can still host the gift exchanges !!
I love them and honestly like I said on ALL my trains there has only been 2-3 ppl out of 20+ trains who did not get a gift from their buddy but they did get a replacement gift from me so NOBODY went without
I will p'm Amberlab before I host a new PKGE Train

I'm all for respecting the rules and all that but I have to say I'm disappointed in the new rules for the card exchanges... I like to add extras to my envie and am disappointed that I can't now.
Wow, that really sounds like I'm whining, lol!! I'm not, I just feel what we send should be left to our own discretion. But that's just me...

Just a question:
Why can't we add something to a card exchange if it's not expected?
Understandable that a card exchange that others EXPECT to get more than a card (like, it says you must include coupons, or a gc, or something) but why is it not allowed as an 'extra'?
Well, I guess if someone really wanted to send a gc, they could send it as a RAOK...
