I think this is worthy of it's own thread...
The Govt has launched a Food & Product Recall Website where you can find info on all Canadian recalls:
    http://www.healthycanadians.gc.ca/pr-rp/index_e.php

Please check the site if you have any concerns about product or food safety.

Given that everyones contributions to the food recall thread are important and valued, why don't we move the food recall thread over here and stick it rather than posting this twice and stickying it?

    Thanks for the suggestion bcteagirl.
The reason why I put this as it's own thread is that the Federal Govt finally launched a site with ALL of the product and food recalls. Instead of getting this link lost in the middle of a thread with individual recalls I think it's better that it has it's own thread.

Here's the news article with info about it's launch:

Federal government opens one-stop warning website for dangerous goods

    Wed Oct 24, 5:49 PM

    By The Canadian Press

OTTAWA - The federal government has launched a new "one-stop" Internet database to provide Canadians with information on dangerous or recalled food and children's products.

Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency teamed up to launch the website, where consumers can search for food or children's products that are considered unsafe or unhealthy.

"By combining forces through the Healthy Canadians website, Health Canada and the CFIA will provide one stop access for information on food and product recalls," Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz told an Ottawa news conference Wednesday.

"So whether it's a question of children's toys that have been proven unsafe or a food related issue like salmonella, Canadians will know where to turn."

The site allows web surfers to search by keyword, date, product or company name, and browse product recalls dating back more than a decade.

The website also contains pictures of the recalled children's products so parents can more quickly recognize them.

The launch comes on the heels of a number of recent recalls of food products and toys, mainly from China, that were considered unsafe.

Liberal consumer affairs critic Dan McTeague is blasting the move to a website as a "lame" attempt to appease public concerns about the safety of their children.

He says Ottawa should be putting more effort into preventing unsafe products from entering the country.

"There should be more rigorous scrutiny of those products (at the border)," said McTeague.

"Taking a sort of 'buyer beware' approach when the government has an obligation to stand up for Canadians - particularly when it comes to public safety - should be the first order of business of this government," he added.

"Clearly their response by consulting a website I think fails that very significant and important test of public trust in our institutions."

The website can be found at www.healthyCanadians.gc.ca.

Thanks for posting this. These days it's good to check this website at least once a week. It's too bad that companies can't do their job properlly and keep us safe.

P&G Recall: Oral B Dental Rinses possibly contaminated July 13, 2011

OTTAWA - Health Canada is advising Canadians that Procter & Gamble is conducting a voluntary recall of "Oral B Anti-Cavity Dental Rinse- Alcohol Free" (NPN 02129930) and "Oral-B Anti-Bacterial with Fluoride - Alcohol Free Daily Use Mouthrinse" (DIN 02130823).

The products are being recalled due to possible microbial contamination. Procter & Gamble is requesting that retailers immediately stop sale of these products and is also advising consumers to discard the affected product and contact them for a refund by calling 1-800-566-7252, Monday to Friday between 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.

According to Procter & Gamble, if present, the microbial level poses virtually no risk to healthy people. However, people with severely weakened immune systems, such as those with cystic fibrosis may be more susceptible to adverse health effects. As such, Health Canada reminds Canadians who have concerns about these products to consult with their health care practitioner.

Recall of pie and tart shells expanded due to E. coli contamination

A recall for pie and tart shells issued last month has been expanded.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) warns that the products were sold across Canada and may be contaminated with E. coli.

The expansion affects four products sold at three locations in Ontario: The Briwood Farm Market at 1030 Talbot St. in St. Thomas, Lynn’s Bakery & Deli at 2190 Dundas St. in London, and Lenover’s Quality Meats & Seafoods Ltd. at 525 Park Ave. E. in Chatham.
