How many kids did you get this year?

Thanks for the kind words, We had fun doing it as we have been doing it for many years. Seeing the looks on the kids faces is worth it.
We had over 200 kids we figure.

We figured about 250 kids. We needed crowd control at one point. We had a blast. It was a shame though, it was too windy to use the smoke machine.

Willy, I'd like to learn how to program the lights and setup things like that. Any idea where I could start?

There was one moment..actually 2 that I wish we caught on video.
First were two identical twins in a stroller (side by side), dressed alike, bopping to the music simultaneously. That was so funny.
Another was a little girl dressed up like a little lion, and for the first minute she looked at the display from behind a pole, then she bravely walked up into the grave yard and stood there frozen with her mouth open, and eyes wide. After a minute of that she started bopping to the music. It so cute.

CH did some other house right near us. A lot of people were commenting on that. Oh well, I know we were being just scouted, but it would have been nice. We'll see what happens over Christmas. That is the important one. We want the food drive ongoing with the Christmas display.
Although, I had a couple of people say, "Oh I saw your house on TV"....I couldn't say for sure because I did not see the crew. The house was very busy. Anything could have happened. Kids were coming back just to watch, and there was a lot of traffic because of the lights....it was very busy for the first two hours.

Well there are a few ways to start light controlling. If you are good with electronics you could build a simple 8ch board consisting of opto isolators and high current triacs that could be assembled on a cheap perf board. A simple circuit that takes the low voltage output from the parallel port on the computer. There are some freeware programs to control. You can check out this site, It has lots of info http://computerchristmas.com/index.phtml?link=links
What I describe above can be expanded to more channels by useing a multiplex setup, WAY TO MUCH WORK..... So I opted to go with LOR (Light O Rama) for the controller. http://www.lightorama.com/ They have every thing you need to get up and running including the software. But you still have to wright the sequence.
I could build the above circuit BUT the price of what they offer it is not worth to build it.
If you plan on doing some light please feel free to ask me anything, I will try to answer what I can.
