I have a frog that has been coming on to my patio. Anyone know how to get rid of it?

We had hail this week and it kind of did a little damage.

Well, after pruning, raking, tidying and carrying away garden trash all week, my front and back yards were looking good.
This morning, along comes the landlord's crew to blow out the trash from the eavestroughs. Oh, what a mess they make! Hopefully, they don't blow it into the downspouts this time, to plug the rainflow. Well, if it keeps the rain out of the basement and off the steps, great.
Re: frogs on the patio, just think of all the mosquitoes, flies and other insects that little critter is eating, and enjoy the company, maybe with a little water feature to reward it. (just my opinion)
The giant dragonflies still patrol my yard, and I've had NO mosquitoes or black flies bothering me for weeks now. I can go out on my patio and into my garden at any time of the day or evening, and don't get bitten. And I don't have to wear mosquito repellant this year.
It's wonderful!!!( Valiant, the valley-ant )

Does SC have a thread for seed swapping? Anyone interested?
I think it would be neat to have a seed trade list like we do for coupons..lol
Plus it would be a good way to try out new fruits/veggies!
PS. where does everyone get their seeds from?
I get mine online

I saw the bazillion little frogs, and agree that they gave me the creeps too. I would take bugs..any bug, over a frog anyday. So Mr Frog needs to take a hike!

Well, so far this year's garden take has been:
- 6 small lettuce leaves (paired with store lettuce, this made one salad)
- 3 small clippings of chives, I should harvest the rest before it yellows
- several basil leaves, slugs keep eating the plants off
- 3 cups raspberries, a little every couple of days on top of my cereal
- 3/4 gallon Nanking cherries, made many nice little fresh-fruit snacks
- 2 black current berries, and even those tasted terrible
- no cress, the green worms got it all, but left the seeds to ripen
This year, slugs got mostly everything the hardball-sized hail left behind.
If all goes well, I might be able to harvest, in time:
- 1 quart rhubarb, if it doesn't dry out
- 1 quart Valiant grapes, if the birds don't get em
- 2 zuccini (1 is 1 1/2 inches long, the other is almost budding); oh, how I do hope for more blossoms in time
- a few small cucumbers, I see one so far: 1 inch long
- a cereal bowl full of Tiny Tim tomatoes, slower than molasses in January
Wish me luck...
On the plus side, the garden is really beautiful looking, and the impatiens are on another round of blooming. Oh well...we get what we get.( Valiant, the valley-ant )

Hi Janetta,
There is a friendly seed-swap group on Yahoo groups here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/the-gr...seed-exchange/
I have done 11 trades since joining - it's been fun!
I tend to buy my seeds online. I love heirloom seeds. My favorite seed companies (all Canadian) are:
Heritage Harvest Seeds:
http://www.heritageharvestseed.com/
Salt Spring Seeds:
http://www.saltspringseeds.com/
The Cottage Gardener:
http://cottagegardener.com/
I have had great experiences ordering from all of these companies, though Heritage Harvest stands out a bit because they have always included a free packet of seeds with my orders.
Read more about Salt Spring Seeds and The Cottage Gardener on my blog!

Thanks for the links, TrueNorthTreasures! I'll be sure to check them and your blog out!
I've been ordering seeds from Artisticgardens.com - nothing super fancy but they have a good range of seeds. I like that they sell sample packs too for only 35 cents! Shipping to Canada & the US is $3.50 which is totally reasonable. They offer great customer service. Perfect for someone who's just starting their garden

It was a rather crummy growing season in northern BC this year, but I am happy that the 3 varieties of dry bush beans I grew did okay.
If anyone is interested in any of these seeds and you can send me a small SASBE (self-addressed, stamped bubble envelope), do let me know. I would prefer to send these to folks who plan to actually grow them next year for additional seed.
- Canadian Wild Goose beans (3 trades of 10 seeds each)
- Beka Brown beans (4 trades of 10 seeds each)
- Montcalm Kidney beans (3 trades of 10 seeds each)
These are all heirloom seeds.
The Beka Brown beans are listed as "Endangered" in the Seeds of Diversity
heritage plants database.
To see what the Montcalm Kidney beans and the Canadian Wild Goose beans look like, visit http://www.heritageharvestseed.com/b...l#canadianwild
The Beka Brown beans look similar to the "Fisher" beans shown at the link above.
