OPP are investigating a series of bizarre confrontations on and near Hwy 401 in Mississauga overnight that ended with a fiery crash. Sgt. Kerry Schmidt explains there was a group of motorcycle riders blocking westbound lanes of the highway near Dixie Rd. A car was damaged through an act of mischief as it tried to get by. Once stopped, the female driver got out of her car and was allegedly assaulted by one of the motorcycle riders. Then a passenger in the car slid behind the wheel and took off, with at least some of the motorcyclists tailing. The car flipped into a retaining wall and burst into flames.

PMO Aides to Repay Part of Moving Expenses

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's two top aides have decided to repay a portion of the $207,000 in expenses they incurred in moving to Ottawa from Toronto. Chief of staff Katie Telford and principal secretary Gerald Butts say they followed all the rules but don't feel comfortable about some of the relocation costs to which they were entitled. Both will reimburse the government for miscellaneous moving expenses _ $23,373 for Telford and $20,299 for Butts. Butts also will further reimburse $25,141 for the land transfer tax with his new home.

Russia Advances to World Cup Semis; North America Eliminated

Russia will meet Canada in Saturday's semifinal after blanking Finland 3-0 at the World Cup of Hockey. Russia's win ends Team North America's run at the best-on-best tournament. The under-23 team needed Finland to win in order to move on.
