A couple goes for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and orders the "Chicken Surprise." The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast-iron pot.
Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down. "Hey, did you see that?" she asks her husband.
He hadn't, so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down.
Sputtering in a fit of pique, he calls the waiter over, describes what is happening, and demands an explanation!
"Please sir," says the waiter, "what did you order?"
The husband replies, "Chicken Surprise."
"Ah... so sorry," says the waiter, "I bring you Peeking Duck
Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert an hour
east of Bakersfield, CA, some folks, new to boating, were having a
problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand
new 22 foot boat, going. It was very sluggish in almost every
maneuver, no matter how much power they applied. After about an hour
of trying to make it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking
someone there may be able to tell them what was wrong. A thorough
topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition. The
engine ran fine, the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller was
the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the
water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was
laughing so hard. Under the boat, still strapped securely in place,
was the trailer!

Nasty flu season isn't over yet
The number of flu cases continues to spike across Canada, suggesting the peak of the season could still be weeks off. Infectious-disease experts describe this influenza season as ``unusual,'' citing the mix of two strains that are dominating this year's flu epidemic.
The dominant influenza A strain H3N2 is still out there, but it's mixing with the much earlier-than-usual circulation of a B strain.
