Metrolinx cancels plan to close Bathurst near Eglinton after public backlash

Metrolinx has hit the brakes on plans to close down a major mid-town intersection. Just last month the provincial transit agency toyed with the idea of shutting down Bathurst and Eglinton for seven months in a bid to get Forest Hill station completed faster. Ahead of a planned town hall meeting scheduled for residents last night, Metrolinx issued a statement saying it was withdrawing their application for the closure due to all the push back from local residents. Metrolinx says even without the planned closure, congestion in the area should be reduced significantly by the end of the year.

Ontario to cut college and university tuition fees by 10 per cent

The provincial government is set to announce a 10 per cent cut to tuition fees but critics and others worry the announcement will be paired with cuts to student grants. Word is the Tories will announce the mandated drop in tuition for colleges and universities today. The Canadian Federation of Students wrote on twitter that it was concerned about the government's intentions and whether the move would truly make education more affordable in Ontario. The Tories are in the midst of trying to trim a deficit they peg at $14.5 billion, although the financial accountability officer says it's closer to $12 billion. The entitled generation gets another perk.

Kyrie Irving hit a 31-foot 3-pointer to finish with 27 points and lead the Celtics past the Eastern Conference-leading Toronto Raptors 117-108 on Wednesday night.

He was the greatest boxer of all-time -- Muhammad Ali's Kentucky hometown will honour the late boxer by renaming its airport for him. The Louisville Regional Airport Authority's board voted to change the name to Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. Ali would have turned 77 today. He died back in 2016

Good morning fellow Canucks!

I looked out the window this morning toward the southeast. There were two bright luminaries in the sky. The brighter and higher one was Venus, while the less bright and lower to the left of Venus was Jupiter. As the days progress both planet will appear closer together until January 22nd, then the spread out day by day.

Also, don't forget on Sunday night there will be a lunar eclipse. You can see the partial eclipse starting at around 10:30, but totality will be at around 11:40 and will last for just over an hour. I really hope we get some clear skies that night. I missed the last lunar eclipse back in 2015. As the eclipse was starting, the clouds moved in.

Here's the story

Had a couple of elastics hanging around on the desk for 5 or 10 days. Moved music files off 2 external hard drives onto 1 bigger drive. Needed elastics for USB and power cords. Where did the elastics go????

Bungee phobia here. My brother owned a carpentry business (Annular Ring) and I helped him out for a couple of years. He had an old Chevy Van he worked out of. One of the first days we were loading up at the end of the day and unbeknownst to me he had a bungee cord holding the door open on the wheel well. I tugged on the door and it didn't move so I gave it good yank and the bungee cord let loose and ya... there... Right there. So ya, no bungee cords for me...
