Hicks, Looks like a beauty setup to train him!
Great he owns a towel, set a carpet up at the sliding door, defines his in boundary, until you wipe his paws.
Never teach your dog to "shake a paw" for food.
pawing for food is way too natural.
routine of giving up all four paws to be wiped "every-time" I choose at the door, required.
50% of his food from your hand will do the trick!
I have always used "DT" from the Vet as her second dry and regular treat.
it works...

He / we never shake for food, only a treat when I'm trying to teach him.
The area to train him is gone. He kept climbing over, & got his paw caught once. Thank GOD I was there, or he'd have been hanging & probably broken his leg, or worse.
We do wipe 4 paws each time, but it's getting harder. He just want to play with the towel. We're both learning, so I'm trying to change our behaviours.

Good Monday morning my Q friends. Had an awesome time at the lunch yesterday. A great bunch of Q sters. I never got a chance to thank everyone for coming to the lunch. This is spectacular. I often have wondered why the airline industry doesn't have a live video feed from the aircraft's nose streamed into the cabin in order to amuse and bedazzle their weary travellers

I watched an episode of Mayday and they had a live cct feed for the passengers for this case. They actually watched their own demise so the airlines nixed that idea soon afterwards.

Thank you dear people for coming out for lunch. Some of you came from a very long way. (Rockit holly smokes eh?). It meant so much to me, to meet people I respect & admire. You all have the qualities that make a good neighbour. In the last year in particular, I have come to realize that I have to take a leap of faith & get out there. Life needs to be lived to the fullest - what a simple philosophy! (I have had a difficult time with being embarrased at my appearance)

I am sure that poetic inspiration will come to me later & when it does, I will have to share.

Also..... you all have been successful in reminding me that I have support through this unwelcomed illness.

Thank you dear people & I hope that more of you can join us next time.
