In the winter and early spring skunks may be seen out of their dens at almost any time of day, especially before and after long periods of snow cover or prolonged cold weather. Skunks do not hibernate in winter; they do sleep more but will come out of the den to forage for food when they are not snowed in .

I'm seeing a lot of skunks outside this time of year when I go out for my morning walk. Probably not a good time of year to let the dog out unleashed.

New Polls Have Liberals Poised To Win Minority

With exactly one week to go until election day a couple of polls show the Liberal momentum may have Justin Trudeau as the new PM next Tuesday. An Ipsos poll for Global news shows the Liberals would win a minority government taking 128 seats to the Conservatives’ 122. The NDP could hold the balance of power in parliament with 84 seats. The poll has the Liberals leading with 37% support. The Conservatives trail by 6 points at 31% while the NDP continue to lose momentum sitting at 24%. And interesting numbers come out of the 905, where the Liberals are up 12 points on the Conservative Party. In the 416, the Liberals hold a commanding 21 point lead on the Tories, 48% compared to 27%.

Jays Fans Petition MLB to Open Dome For Game 5 of ALDS

Toronto Blue Jays' fans want the dome to the Rogers Centre open for today's game and they're doing something about it. A petition is quickly collecting signatures demanding the retractable roof be open for Game 5 of the ALDS. MLB makes the call on whether the roof will be open or not and has decided top keep it closed for game 5 this afternoon. The Jays have an 11-14 record with the roof closed and 38-14 with it open.
