Wow, we had quite a thunder storm last night, and lost power for a couple of hours, and a couple of quick outages this morning too.

The annual Mega-adoption is going on down at the CNE grounds this weekend, I'm praying most of the animals, well all actually, find their new homes. Sadly there are always a few who get left and have to go back to the shelter but a huge amount of dogs and cats do get adopted.

Jeepers!!!! I love Bruce Springsteen. Can you imagine seeing him in a smaller venue? What an experience that would be. It seems that we don't have to wait for a sunny day here in Southern Ontario. This weather is magic.

Just checking in. Critters are well. My Mom's holding her own with the chemo (she's tolerating it better than the Dr thought she would). She's still a bit weak, so I'll be out here for the next while.

Lily dog is in heaven. She just spent an hour trying to convince a young neighbour that dogs are fun.

I'm back! An absolute fabulous trip the The Rock.
If you wanted colder weather, that was the place to be. Would have gladly taken all the humidity from you this week.
The northern part of NFLD is cold. Thursday night they had a frost warning & because of that, you could see the Northern Lights that night. WOW!. Friday morning, we had a boat cruise down iceberg alley & whale watching & i had long johns, 2 shirts, 2 hoodies, a nylon jacket & mitts on. North Atlantic is dang cold. Saw lots of icebergs, some the size of a 4 story condo & that was what you could see on the top of the surface. Also saw hump back whales, gannet birds, puffins & seals. Once we headed down from St. Anthony's to Deer Lake, the weather had warmed up to a balmy 17 degrees. Long johns could come of at that point. As our boat tour guide said, if you like winter, you'll love St. Anthony's. It might get to 15-17 degrees at the warmest point in the summer, but frost in JULY! AHHHHH!!!!! It was what they called Julyuary. Great trip thou, glad i went, the scenery & life style is like no other. They didn't have electricity until 1965 in most outposts & the TCH is the only major road thru the island. A traffic jam is 12 cars going by before you can turn. Will try & get some pics for you all. It is really the simple, wholesome life out there.

Happy Psunday Q sters,
A beautiful sunny day, but no as warm as i would like. This was the normal temp in NFLD, except the northern part. In August, it should be a bit warmer. The icebergs will be gone by then & they do affect the NFLD temp quite a bit. They also help create a lot of fog. The Long Range Mountains are beautiful, the trails range from easy to very challenging. Gros Morne has some trails, but can only be climbed for a couple of weeks out of the year. It is home to some rare species of animals & you are not allowed to climb it when they are mating & nesting, so for a few weeks, it's open to climb. When climbing any of the mountain teails, you must 1st check in at the station, to give your name, where you will be hiking, then when you're done, you have to check in again to let them know that you are done. This way they have a record of your hike & if you don't return by a certain time, they know where abouts to look for you, if something happened along the way. Since some of the trails are not really marked that well, you need a compass & a GPS to follow the trail's coordinates. Trees, trees, & more trees, everywhere you looked, there were trees. Mostly pine trees, especially in the south, then a mixture of pine & deciduous trees in the central & some parts of the north. The northern part, since the cold, the very strong winds & lack of soil, the trees are very few & far between & very short. Most grow in a bent over position because of the winds.

Thanx 22. Brought some back to cool you guys off. Would have loved at least 10 more degrees of your humidity to add to their temps, but it was a great trip, very fascinating, informative, a different perspective on how people in other provinces live. I understand why NFLDers are so proud of their province & heritage. They have done without for so long, they know how to survive & overcome obstacles.

Don't forget that it's always important to read the instructions first,
Cause once the assembling is locked into place, it cannot be reversed,
If you shop at Ikea, you'll know all about following instructions to the letter,
On a personal note I'll tell you that you will just feel a whole lot better,
Detailed instructions have been known to leave you scratching your head,
& if it gets to be too darn much, then just retire to a nice comfy bed,
Good luck with your endeavours & in whatever activity you may choose,
It also helps if the background music is a damn fine mix of blues!
