    TORONTO, Ont. - A man in his 30s is facing stunt driving charges after he was caught going almost twice the legal speed limit on the Gardiner Expressway, Wednesday.

    Police told 680News they pulled over the driver just after 6 a.m.

    The vehicle -- a red 2008 four door Mazda 3 -- was clocked at 174 kilometres an hour in the westbound lanes of the Gardiner near Highway 427.

    There were two people in the car.

    The driver has had his licence suspended for seven days pending a court appearance, and his car has been impounded for a week under the province's street racing legislation.

    This is the second time in just over 24 hours that Toronto police stopped an extreme speeder. Early Tuesday morning, the driver of a Dodge Challenger was clocked going 155 kilometres an hour on the northbound Don Valley Parkway.

    Guys, take note of the colour of the car. Insurance rates are also higher if you are male & drive a RED car. although there is absolutely no reason to be doing 174kms on any road in any colour car, but red ones are targeted cause it happens more often in that colour.
