Brats are NOT impressed we had to leave the land of treats for dietville, but they are happy to get back downtown where there's non-stop action outside the window and lots to see. Quincy has already done 3 inspections to make sure no intruders had invaded *his* space.

The surgery went, ahem, well. The nurse had fun using a sharpie to scribble all over (apparently patients are cheaper than scrap paper ). Took nearly a week to get all the funny little doodles off my body. The day of the surgery, I had a nice young resident who was shadowing the anaesthesiologist and suggested that he practice putting the IV in me, since I'm a difficult patient (well, my veins are, I like to think I'm easy-going ). Poor thing just couldn't get the IV to work...neither could the senior Dr (nevermind the nurse). After quite a few tries, she succeeded. The nurse came back after going to get some more drops and stopped dead, apparently I was the first patient in a looong time who had an IV sticking out of her foot.

The next day when I went to see the surgeon, the conversation went as follows:
Dr K: So, as you know, the surgery went well, although it was a lot more complicated than we expected.
me: Did you laugh when you saw me wheeled in with an IV in my foot?
Dr K (in a quiet serious voice): That should have been my first clue.

Better go see what exciting things I missed while I was staring at the ground.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

OMGoodness Andi - sounds like a hospital sitcom! So glad you are on the mend, the brats are back home and happy.

Heading out for another walk downtown - first to King & Bay for a talk by Bryce Wylde, then later past Bathurst & Queen to 5th Element restaurant for which I have a groupon for dinner, then back over towards Dundas and Yonge for a movie later on at 9:30, won't return home until about midnight. Still feeling the walking from yesterday - today will amount to over 10 km. Going with my daughter whom shall I say likes to walk also!

Welcome back Andi! Glad your eye procedure went well, we were wondering how you were doing.

McSkier - sorry to hear your dealing with something negative - hoping it turns out okay.......

A little worried about the Q - wishing they had of just decided to throw more songs from the same kind of bands in rather than one's like the Foo Fighters etc........hope they don't change too much.....can't say I like the "newer" bands very much

    Good Morning all,

Hey Andi, welcome back. We've all missed you a great deal. It must have been just a little bit stressful for you. It is torture staying in one position for so long. I am also glad to hear that you are back on the job. Lily & Quincy probably had a meeting about this & came to a consensus that you were back at it full time & their time....no light duties either.

Also glad to hear that your place passed the security inspection.

    We missed you!!!

Welcome back Andi, we've been wondering about you. You never do anything easy do you !!
Happy you're ok, and nice to 'see' you again.

Lee, I really like those maternity tops. I'm with you.
If they'd been around, I definitely would have worn them.

Oh, and that April Fools joke was fun to watch. A good one.

This is not graphic or gory -- but no less deplorable. Apparently, this is in Oregon. Each crate has a calf in it, removed from their mother one hour after they were born. The mother had enough time to clean up the birth, lick, smell and intially bond with the calf, before they were taken away to live in boxes. Death will ensue in approximately six weeks. Until then, here they remain, unable to move, so as to make their meat 'tender.' Then they become veal steaks. Please everyone, for the sake of all --

I used to eat veal until I realized where it really came from - so sad for those poor calves - if everyone would just give up eating "veal" they wouldn't have to go through that torture - something to really really think about.....
