For Easter, I put together baskets for the women at the local women's shelter. Since we have only lived in this community for a year, I am still getting to know the organizations here, and this was my first contact with them. So, when I called what I thought was their number, I actually reached the women's centre. Through my conversation with the centre's director, I found out that these are two separate organizations. I asked the director if there was anything that the centre needed, and she said that they are always desperate for feminine hygiene products. She said that women come by the centre all the time asking for them (since they can't get these kind of supplies at the food bank). She said they could also use deodorant and toothbrushes. So, I set out to try to get a donation pulled together for them in time for Mother's Day. With the help of some wonderful SC'ers (extra special thanks to lizzyurb for her RAOK!), here is what I was able to put together:
I delivered these to the centre on Wednesday, and the staff were SO excited!! They were completely out of these products - and when they showed me their shelves, they were pretty bare. (some full size lotions, several travel size shampoos, conditioners and toothpaste) After seeing those shelves, I'll be looking for items for them on an ongoing basis!!
This centre donation came to a total of $16.00, thanks to LD!
Today, I also brought over 3 baskets to the women's shelter, just so that the Moms there might be able to have some goodies. The staff there said, "Oh, you're that coupon lady!!" when they saw me!
Each of the baskets had lotion, shampoo, conditioner, facial scrub, toothpaste, toothbrush and several samples from the cosmetic department at LD!! (When the clerk found out that I was putting these together, she offered me some samples to add in!!)

The most expensive item in each basket was the green basket at the bottom ($1.25!)!! Again, thanks to LD and coupons from all you AMAZING SC'ers, these baskets came to just over $9.00!
Happy Mother's Day, everyone!!!This thread is currently associated with: London DrugsLast edited by BookMom; Fri, May 28th, 2010 at 11:51 PM.
