Deal of the week at RCSS

I was asked last week if I wanted bamboo skewers, the look I must have given the cashier at the time must have been priceless, ha ha, but then I saw the sign on the til and went "Ohhhhhhhhhh! Deal of the week!"

Ohhh, that's why the cashier guy asked me if I wanted band aids! I gave him a very puzzled look, and all the way to my car I was wondering why he would ask me that.

Yes, they have it my store, and one cashier didn't ask me but I didn't know it was free if they didn't ask. They were wooden bbq skewers.

Whenever I have coupons and PM , and sometimes SCOP they never remember to ask me as they are too flustered to remember. But then I also forget to ask to get it free

But some of the cashiers don't care about pushing the deal...especially the young ones. I wonder if they get in trouble if they don't mention it?

yup we get written up, everytime someone gets it free, after a few write-ups we get a nice little unpaid two week "vacay" ...after that no more work there

yesterday my boyfriend paid, and right as she was handing him the change, I asked him if the cashier had asked him about the Deal of the week, and he repeats "did she ask me about the deal of the week?" (clearly puzzled) and I look over at her and shes already got her hand out knowing she didn't ask, so we got free bandaids!!! (a whole $4 worth!)

WOW! That is harsh, I hope the cashiers start remembering to ask everyone. I would hate to see someone lose their job over forgetting something like that.

That is a little harsh!!! Now I feel kinda bad...that poor girl is gonna get written up now Cahiers shouldn't loose their job over that. Your job is to be a "cashier", handle transactions, not to be a sales person!

i wait until the transaction is complete and then ask if i get this item free because they forgot to mention it... it works!

The Deal of the Week started awhile back, at least from the beginning of the year I would say. I always look out for it because one time the cashier forgot about it and after the transaction was complete, I said to him that he had forgotten to ask me about the deal. Then he directly me to the customer service counter for my free body wash.

Another time when the cashier didn't mention the deal, I asked about it and he said he's was not told about this deal at this till. Then I noticed there was no picture on the Deal of the Week sign at his till, while the other tills have the picture. So I guess not all the tills do it all the time.

I wondered why they are always pushing an item at the till. Now I'm going to pay attention.
Is that policy posted somewhere?

Its actually posted right at top of the cashier area, in big letters.

It is only valid on cash registers with the sign - NOT EXPRESS LINES!!!

My cashier today forgot to ask me because she was so flustered about all the pink sticker and coupons I had. The CS Supervisor was PISSED that I got it.

oh im sorry but I just pictured that and it really made me laugh
I dont every remember being asked for the deal of the week but then again my grocery shop is huge and i have everything but the kitchen sink in there they are probably saying"what the heck does she need with any more stuff" and then come out the coupons. Which really isnt much for groceries but hey im going to remember that next time i go !

I would love some "free" things.
But When I first started to work at zellers it was when they still did the
"10,000 points if we forget to ask you to put it on your card" thing.
And I always hated it cause wed get in big trouble over time.

So I dont really like to make the cashiers have to deal with getting in trouble, over some wooden skewers.
Not that theres anything wrong with asking for it if they forget.
Not trying to start up anything. haha
