I always wonder if the people who question French coupons have heard of a place called CANADA - it's a GREAT country with 2 - yes- two official languages! In fact, if you are in Ontario at least, her children probably know how to sing the national anthem in both English and French and indeed in a combination!
I had a cashier at Wal-Mart question one once only to call over her manager who was a native french speaker - English was her second language - I had no problem with the coupon!

I use to be able to use French But my last experiance made me tuck my tail in and run while throwing my french coupons up in the air. The cashier was yelling at me telling me I was scamming ect ect. Not nice!

Wow! I'm really surprised you got hassled over a French coupon in Ottawa! Everything is bilingual in this city. If you were French speaking and publicly complained about your experience, that store would be up the creak!

The last time I checked French is an official language of Canada so they should accept it ( unless the coupon says on its valid in Quebec only or something like that )
Plus you are in Ottawa..if at all anywhere else other than Quebec they should accept a French Coupon its Ottawa as its almost on the Ontario - Quebec border .
I can see them giving you a hard time ( not right but happens ) with a French coupon elsewhere in Canada ( except QC ) , but Ottawa is the last palce they should be giving you a hard time for a French Coupon ( if it has no provincial restrictions on it )

You should have shown her the VICHY product you bought & said why does it say CREME NETTOYANTE MOUSSANTE PURIFIANTE on it .
Why are you selling items with French lettering on it ..LOL ( English is on it too but French is on top )..LOL

If you don't speak/read french, I can totally see being thrown for a loop with a french coupon when 99% of the coupons you see are english. You can't understand the terms ect... if you don't speak the language. But it is easily fixed by asking a french cashier to help out! There had to be at least 1 there!

Tres Bien, and wonderful shopping
Why is it that everytime I read about Shoppers Drug Mart people complain about the store? I too experience the same, why does SDM continue to hassle customers? My rant is continually the same, fighting about coupons, shopping bags, and pricing (Scanning code of conduct). Today I got so annoyed that the same cashier continually asks me do you want a bag? So today I asked her to double the bag and told her to stop asking me if I wanted a bag!! I really get tired of being asked the same question. I am tired of fighting about coupons and Scanning code of conduct.
I have even compained to head office, then they gave me a 10.00 gift card for my inconvenience.
Our monthly drug expenses are in excess of $500.00 that's 6000.00 per year. I always go to their Gala events (cosmetics) and usually buy aleast 50.00 worth of stuff that I probably don't need. Where I live they rely on the locals who live here to survive.
Happy Shopping All at Shoppers Drug Mart and enjoy the points as I will !!!!
However I did recently read that Shoppers Drug Mart - Points is one of the best. By best I mean the best bang for your buck on return.
I would suppose that is why we all are bold, speak up and keep going back for more.
