Does anyone have any natural ways to rid serious heartburn? Tums, pepto etc doesn't work for me. Woke up at 3am in mass pain, still have it. I have tried everything. My only relief is making myself vomit, but it's not working this time. Thanks!!

It's not natural, but I found zantac to really help with bad heartburn when I was pregnant.

Thank you. I just tried the baking soda and water thing...nothing Drinking ginger ale now, nothing. I only get hb like 2x a year but when I do, ouch lol. I usually slam my stomache into the counter, sounds strange I know, but that usually brings it up and out, that;s not even working. Damn peperonni sammie last night lol

Ouch! Whenever I get it really badly (like you a few times a year) I use Nexium cause it's the only thing that will work.

You could always try these ideas:

#1) Chewing gum- Chewing gum increases the pH of saliva which is another reason why it is one of the best heartburn remedies

#2) Drinking Vingar- Drinking vinegar would actually place an acid (acetic acid) at the highest possible point, thereby tricking the body into thinking there was a large acid swell. This in turn results in a massive burst in salivary production and digestive activity, quelling many heartburn issues on the spot.

    Herbal ideas:

#3) Chewable DGL-(deglycyrrhizinated licorice) It is a form of the herb licorice that has had the glycyrrhizin component removed to reduce the risk of glycyrrhizin-related side effects such as high blood pressure and water retention.

#4) Aloe Vera Juice- The juice from the aloe vera plant is another natural home remedy that is used to soothe an irritated esophagus.Typically, approximately 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice is taken (by adults) approximately 20 minutes before a meal(this won't apply now) The aloe vera should not contain any aloe latex, aloin, or aloe-emoin compounds, substances in the aloe plant that are very powerful laxatives. Aloe gel should not be taken directly from the plant as a home remedy, as the gel can be contaminated with the latex. Only gel or juice preparations specifically for internal use should be used

    Hope somethng helps and soon

Try not to eat or drink anything after dinner...that might help you not suffer when you lay down at night.

Are you falling apart at the seams or what?!

Thanks anisa. This is the usual pain I get every 2x's years. Just got home, while driving into the city, I threw up a bit lol, that helped a bit. Half a bottle of pepto in me, baking soda and 2 ginger ales lol. I'm going back to bed. I'm tired, cranky, hot and need to burp lol.

It ,might be a good idea to go get it checked out by your Doctor, especially if it is making you vomit.

I've got to agree with going to get this checked out, even if it doesn't happen too often. There can be serious repercussions even if you seldom get them and particularly if nothing helps! What makes you think it's hearburn, though...has anyone said that's what it is?
I have GERD, which I struggle with, and am back to taking a Domperidone 1/2hr before every meal, as well as a Nexium once a day and I don't even HAVE any of the symptoms you have! Mine is reduced to nausea most mornings, but although I've been scoped and ultrasounded, etc, I've never had anything close to that burning sensation...some just don't.

    So please get checked out......seriously.
See me making my serious face?!! I mean it, Hon....

oh no!! i hate that feeling....
i take nexium!! it is the only thing that has worked for me!! sometimes its toomuch sugar that trigers it or something spicey, coffee... ect....
if i dont have any nexium with me i drink a glass of 2% milk.... i find that it helps the burning feeling!!
if i doesnt go away soon.... you should get it checked out... ask your doctor about nexium sometimes they have samples as it is fairly pricey!!

    good luck and feel better!!
check out a trade bundle i have....

I find that gaviscon works well for me, it's the only thing that works for me, I follow that with a cold drink of water.
