Enjoy the disposable income while you have it. Sounds like you are living within your means.

I love thrift shopping but I find I fill up on random junk
There's nothing sweeter than serving Sangria from a hand made juice jug that's shaped like a parrot.

I haven't shopped for quite a long time. Save me some money and just make the clothes myself. I'm a do-it-yourself kinda person.

Confession time......I also have a shopping addiction.
Just going over my budget so it cannot be ignored. Most recently over the past six months (but including the holiday season!), I have spent over $1200 on "shopping"....which basically includes clothing, shoes, handbags, beauty products, and other non-food non-essentials. That works out to over $200/month.
Is this reasonable? I have to say though, I think out of the people I know, I am not the worst.
It fluctuates though....one month it was $50, some months it is $300+. This month has been pretty bad in terms of the pocketbook, but there have been so many good sales recently!! Stores are desperate to clear out their fall/winter stock now...Last edited by bug; Mon, Mar 21st, 2011 at 06:55 PM.

I have a shopping addiction to cheap stuff and free stuff. When I can get it free, I feel compelled to go. I can control myself, but sometimes I just gotta have it. Also a few thrift stores have $5 bag days, so I go there and load up. I seriously have 10x as many clothes as anyone I know, it's ridiculous.
But really, I'm able to find a lot of great stuff for less than the cost of a McDonalds meal, and I never ever buy stuff like coffees or those sorts of things that people get every day, so because of that I feel like I can spend what others spend on a coffee each day on stuff for my stockpile once a week or a bag full of new clothes for me and my mom.

I love shopping and when I go shopping I feel like there is nothing I want or need. I feel like I've seen it all before. It's kind of refreshing!

I like shopping, but at an controlled rate, buy first only the needy ones which are essential and later opt for other things.

I have a bit of a problem as well. I save pretty much all of my paycheque - save for the few bucks I spend on buying lunch once a week - but I go through periods where I spend way too much money.
I don't pay rent etc, but I do pay for all my college expenses (tuition, books and transportation) and have managed to pay all of that in cash while most people I know are on OSAP etc and (who have jobs) aren't able to save any of their money for that because they spend it all on "junk" (like eating out all the time, clothes etc).
Anyway, It doesn'treally sound like you have a shopping problem per say, since you are still able to meet your obligations

I have the same....
I'm buying nice clothes - party dresses, elegant trousers, jewelery for some unknown "special occasion" and they end up hanging in my closet waiting for weeks/months to be worn...
I don't have many occasions to wear them daily, because of the nature of my work, but I don't wanna buy normal stuff like jeans, t-shirts and comfy shoes for daily use, cause then I feel like throwing money away on crapp instead of buying someting nice...
I can't find the balance in it

i have a tad of a shopping problem too especially when there are sales going on. i buy stuff on sale i don't really need but the price is too good to pass up. i always justify it by telling myself i might need it in the future and it would be more costly then
about 20% of stuff, mostly beauty and some clothes, are stored somewhere, all new. i've been trying to use up them up before buying again.
