Hump day. Better be a good one. We've been trying to close on our home purchase for a week. Lawyers got the documents wrong, the bank got its documents wrong, and then the bank funded late so we couldn't close on time. It's been a week of "Yes we're closing today" and then at 4:30 "Sorry we're not closing today."
I think we're closing today.

Good morning, everyone!
Critters decided to sleep in, not sure why since I'm sure they slept most of yesterday. Didn't see any signs of mischief while I was gone - maybe they were plotting the overthrow of their dictator?
Have a wonderful day in this hot glorious summer weather.

From the "Phrase Finder"
"Let's call it a day" is very straightforward in language and sense. At some time during a day of work, someone suggests that we "call it day," that is, decide the work-day is finished and it's time to go home. It has been pointed out that it is often said before normal working hours are over. However, it is also said when volunteers, or just friends, are working on a job with no set time frame, and just decide when it's time to quit by saying, "Let's call it a day." Perhaps it has become dark, perhaps it has started to rain, perhaps everyone is tired and worn out. It doesn't have to have anything to do with working a short day.
Pretty boring, I know.

Hey fellow Qbies!!! Hope you all got a chance to enjoy some of those extreme sunrays the last couple days, seems like today might be the last of the hot hot sun, and tomorrow may be the beginning of some hot hot rain! Congrats to the 3 SCers heading down to NY for Mr. Starrs' Bday Bash, should be a night to remember. Thanks to everyone for the overnight reps, and WWs.

I can't read it, because it's labelled as "education" and blocked by the filter here in the office (they don't like us to be entertained OR educated, apparently) but a google search on "Call it a day" and origin comes up with this:

Heh-heh-heh...
Warden passed out for a while (unplugged the A/C for him).
Decided it was time for more Payback and gave him the Cold-Nose Treatment.
He is still screaming at me from the 2nd floor, so I have jumped back into my Rep Cell and closed the door.

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck?

Not a lot. My brother-in-law hired a couple to move half a cord from the driveway to the backyard. They started in September, they're still not done. Lazy gits took the winter off to "hibernate".What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common?
