Anyone looking to move I recommend they check out the bed bug registry first to check up on their potential apartment: www.bedbugregistry.com
I'm always open to trading for pet product coupons (especially free products and high value coupons) - I donate these items to shelters and rescue groups.

I used to live at Yonge & Eglinton BEFORE the new Minto Towers went up (combined 100+ floors?) and it was pretty busy on the subway line in the morning. Now we are at Front & Jarvis, right across St. Lawrence mkt and love it (been here for 8 years and counting!). One thing to consider about downtown vs. midtown is the cost of transport - if you can walk to work, you'd save about $100+/ month/ person.

Annex is an amazing place but watch out for the students' ghetto.

We live at Front and Spadine (Cityplace) and really like it here, considering we used to live at Jane and Eglinton - which is really different.

My partner can walk to work (indeed Tripsplanner, great savings) and we have an amenities building so no need for fitness pass or cost for swimming etc

I live and work in Yonge and Eg area and I love it. I think living near work greatly improves quality of life.

Anyone familiar with the new complex on one cole? It's on the corner of Parliament and Dundas.. Regent Park area. I remember years ago, Regent Park was quite the ghetto of Toronto..

My friend you're in for a big surprise when you see what's being done in this area. Gentrification is really changing the landscape and the neighbourhood is increasing in value. They're going to get social housing right this time, and Regent won't be the fortress it was when you were last here. My friend recently bought a home at Parliament and Dundas that he plans on using both as his home and his shop for $1.2 million....so it's not as ghetto as before.

    Sounds good.

Ya this apartment is their revitalization project along with a new aquatic centre and some other things, not my idea of social housing though considering the price of these units is similar to downtown prices.

I agree with the mixed-income housing approach. They are modelling Regent Park revitalization based on the success in the St. Lawrence Mkt area (my condo bldg is surrounded by social housing apts) so I have a lot of hope for that.

As to buying houses at Parliement & Dundas, $1.2 MM is not a surprise. Landed property in downtown TO is becoming a rare commodity, ghetto or not and some of these old houses are larger too (remember Parliament used to be one of the main street in the Old Town of York). And it just abuts the Cabbagetown area, which has long been gentrified. And price does go up if the property has dual-zoning (for residence & business).

I live in low-income housing now and it's not pretty at all, it's all the things that come to mind when you think low-income.

    Thanks for your comment!
