I don't know if anyone remembers my story about how horrified my mother was when a rude comment was directed at me for doing "SCOP" and how she is the type who would just go along with what the cashier said to keep the peace; but ANYWAY!
My mom calls me today and exclaims "I did a scope!", I said "a scop, mum" haha.
She bought a plant at Sobeys. It was supposed to be $10, but came up as $11.99 and she asked the cashier about it. Cashier calls over other cashier and says "oh, yes. It is supposed to be $10, so just x out the $11.99 and charge her $10" my mom asks her "What about that scope (lol) thing?" and they say "huh?" and she says "You know, when the price comes up wrong for me I'm supposed to get the product free?" and they say to her...
"But we caught the wrong price."
She stood her ground though! And said "No, I told you about it. So I should get that scope thing - shouldn't I?" So they ended up giving her the plant free.
I was so proud! But also chuckled through her whole story, because she kept calling it scope. This thread is currently associated with: Sobeys

WTG for your Mom and for standing her ground especially when the cashiers know about SCOP and act uninformed.

Good for mom!
Wish SCOP was law in Ontario. That would cut down on the trying to remember who SCOP's and who doesn't."Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle

I believe its Scop(e); many acronyms use the long vowel sound.
But call it what you want, as long as you call it when it happens!
God for Mom for standing her ground, (you might want print out the SCOP info for each of you and put it in your purse, then the cashiers can't kick up a fuss about it.)
