I wish he would, cause mine's overdue!!
it was amusing in hindsight. . .I have to take him with me because of his frequent feedings (fortunately at 4 hr. intervals now) So when feeding time came around, I happened to be in a Home Depot parking lot wearing nice silk blouse and high heels. . .feeding this ravenous little beast.
So after his bottle, he has to have a poop. I had 2 papertowels. Well he starts pooping and pooping and pooping!! I went thru the 2 towels and he wasn't stopping!! eeek!! I'm trying to hold him away from me while scrambling through my glove compartment for spare napkins. . . which i used another 3!! of. .
of course, as soon as he was done, he just laid back, looked me in the eye and started purring. I guess he figured it was a "job" well done. lol

I just caught up on this thread and I love reading it. I found orphan kittens a few months ago but they were very sick and had to be put down. It was very hard. I had contacted a cat rescue and they offered to pay for the milk replacement and they said they would find the kittens homes too and I would just have to take care of them. but it wasn't to be I guess. Seeing this thread and how he is thriving is so wonderful! I wonder if it wasn't left by a person and maybe it's mother died somehow? maybe it started to wander because it was hungry. if it's mom was a feral cat that could be possible. I am just hoping that someone didn't just dump it there because that is awful to think about. he is very lucky to have found such a great foster mom! it sounds like you are doing great at it despite it being a lot of work. I imagine it is funny now to look back at your experience in the parking lot. have fun!

Since so many have asked, I guess I should tell you that my buddy (dog) did not make it. I just couldn't even bear to type the words earlier then now. Even now, I'm crying. . dammit. We found his body the next day in our very far back woods. He had got caught in an old wire fence and got a puncture wound in his side. It was a very very very terrible day. I never heard my husband sob and cry in the 27 yrs. we've been married and neither have I.
I've been a zombie since then. Little Reggie has been a great distraction for me but the grief doesn't seem to subside. My other dog, Nika is depressed and lonely. Sits looking out the window. I think she thinks Bruno's going to come home in a car, so she's waiting.
I know some people would find it cold, but the only way I can deal with my grief is to get another puppy/dog. Problem is, I only want a Staffordshire because I just love the breed so much. Of course, that makes life difficult yet again because some "Moron" in government got them banned.
There are some out there but people still want big money for them which I can't afford right now (those are whole other issues). I just feel so unbelievably sad. I find it ironic as I have 50 acres and I make my own dog food and spoil all my babies rotten, but unless you got the money. . .
Another scary and depressing thing is peoples attitude toward animals on Kijiji. It's unbelievable how callous people are about these poor creatures lives. Countless people get puppies only to turn around and "get rid" of them in a few months because they're too much work. Grrrrrrr. It's really criminal.
I'm sorry. I've cried and vented and this is supposed to be a happy post.
I'm going to try Reggie today on lapping up his formula instead of his bottle. if he can do that, he will be going to his new home very shortly with Fallen Pixels. I really want him to start bonding with her and her fur babies asap. It's really the best thing for him as much as we love him here.

Oh, I am so very sorry to hear about your dog....
I don't find it wrong at all to be wanting to get another dog - for your family, and as a companion to Nika.

You gave me the "shivers" I totally understand what you mean by certain breeds
I love my pom... I could never get another type of dog again... I love his annoying little barks... and the bedtime routine... ( he comes to cuddle before bed) he give's "kisses" every night... and every morn... Glad to hear the kitty goes with Fallenpixels
I am so sorry about your other "puppy" hugs

Well, I think it's safe to say there won't be a "ban" on Pom's any time soon.
Although small dog "bites" are the most common. Sheperds are the most reported bites across the country I believe. . . but only an idiot would say we should ban them. Why oh why can they not lay the blame where it should be. . bad owners. Sigh. Punish the deed, not the breed.
Uh, oh. ranting again. sorry.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog! It's not cold at all to want to get another one so soon. It's always hard to lose a beloved pet, but there's something especially painful about losing one suddenly and unexpectedly due to an accident or illness. I've done the same thing twice over the years after losing my cats unexpectedly. I was beside myself with grief and I just couldn't stand it until I got another one. Now when I lose another one, I know I'll do the same thing without any guilt. It doesn't replace the one that was lost, but it refocuses your energy on something good, especially if it's an animal that really needs you.

OK. Updated pic just for you fallen pixels

As you all know, I lost my dear buddy Bruno but so has my other dog, Nika. She is a black Lab/Rottie mix and is 100 lbs. (NOT fat) so you can imagine. . . Well, SHE has decided that if she doesn't have her buddy anymore, then Reggie must be HER baby.
She graciously allows me to bottle feed him, but then I must put him down on the towel for her to "clean" him. He tends to get a little goopy but seems to actually enjoy the whole thing. It's pretty hilarious to watch because Nika's tongue is twice the length of Reggie (probably weighs more then him too)
If any of you have ever changed a baby boy's diaper, you know about the surprise fountain works you can get treated to.. . ... well, Nika sometimes gets it right in the face!! lol I know. . .some of you are grossed out, but it's just a little kitten pee. Nothing a wetnap doesn't take care of.
Here they are: Fat Reggie and "mommy" Nika. ..
