There are $1 coupons in today's Red Plum insert good on Lever bar soap 4 & 8 pack.

The Safeway offer is on the 4 Pack so this should be an outstanding offer if you can get coupons.

    OK, first request.

As you should all know AirMiles has a promo on where if you shop at three sponsors using the online coupons you get 85AMs or a choice of 1 of 3 $10 Gift Cards.

I always find it easy to use 2 of the coupons (in this case $30 Shell gas and 20 Free AirMiles at IRIS optical). The third is often difficult as one doesn't want to pay more just to get the $10 GC.

One of the coupons is Safeway's B2G40 on Purex 64 load laundry detergent. I'd like to do a cost comparison on this one so if you're in other stores and see this item can you let me know the price.

Second, here's an easy cost comparison Wal-Mart vs. Safeway this week on a couple of advertised Kraft products. Safeway's prices are higher but come with AirMiles. How do they compare after valuing the AirMiles using $0.14/AM average?:

    Cracker Barrel Cheese

    Wal-Mart 7.97 vs. Safeway 8.99 with 8AMs

    8.99 - 1.12 = 7.87 Safeway beats by $0.10 on this item.

Tuesday is 10% off day so it's $8.09 at Safeway.

    8.09 - 1.12 = 6.97

So Tuesday Safeway is 12.5% cheaper than WM.

    a. If you use 12.5/AM then the prices at Safeway are: 7.99 & 7.09 respectively.

Safeway is 2 cents more expensive except Tuesday when it beats WM $0.88 or 11%.

    b. if you're using the AMs towards a cruise as Hor & I are doing the value is 18.5/AM. The figures then become:

    7.51 & 6.61 Tuesday (17% cheaper than WM).

    Kraft Salad Dressing

    Wal-Mart $2.47 vs. Safeway $3.00 plus 8 AMs

    a. @ $0.14/AM Safeway's prices are 1.88 & 1.58 (Tuesday: 36% cheaper)

    b. @ $0.125/AM Safeway's prices are 2.00 & 1.70 (Tuesday: 31% cheaper)

    c. @ $0.185/AM Safeway's prices are 1.52 & 1.22 (Tuesday: 51% cheaper)

Safeway kicks WM's @$$ especially on the salad dressing this week.

I also have some B4G$4 coupons on the dressing I'm hoping are still valid.

Where can I find the online coupons for the promo?

You don't have to go online.

They're available in a little booklet at Safeway's Cashiers.

For signing up for the $10 GC or 85AM promo I can't find that in my email anymore. Will try and Google it.

    Try here:

    https://www.airmiles.ca/arrow/Splash...geLocale=en_CA

PS: I opted for the $10 Safeway GC but only because the Submit button wouldn't appear unless I clicked on one of the GCs.

Towards the cruise 85 AMs has a value of $15.725

Yes, I opted for the $10 Safeway card which I'll use towards more AirMiles.

I've already used the IRIS and Shell coupons for 2 out of 3. I'm just trying to decide whether to use the the Boston Pizza, Shoe Warehouse or Safeway ones to get the 3rd.

Note: If you go into the "Offers & Promotions" section at the bottom of the AirMiles webpage there's a different coupon for 20 Free Miles at IRIS. I'm going to try it to see if in fact it works as they usually only offer one in a time period. It can only say "NO". It has a Dec. 1 expiry date which is different from the one in the booklet.

I'm sure most of you have signed up for the AirMiles bonus offer event. Not only are there bonus coupons in a booklet at the Safeway cashiers but if you signed up online there is the following offer:

Use 1 coupon from 3 different sponsors in the booklet and get your choice of 85 Free Airmiles or one of 3 different $10 gift cards.

I've already used the coupon for Shell and the free 20 AMs from IRIS optical.

The booklet has 4 coupons for Safeway:

    B2G30 Van Houtte Coffee

    B2G40 Purex 64 Load

B4G20 Cadbury 100g Family Bars or 4Pack gum

B1G25 Natural Defense Dog Food 3KG

I usually find these offers high priced and have to decide whether it's worth buying any to get the $10 GC offer.

The Van Houtte is 7.99-8.99/225g that's about $40/KG for coffee so I'll skip that one

The gum is 3.99. WM & LD regularly sell it for $2.50 so that's a skip too. Can't speak for the chocolate bars as I didn't see any.

The dog food is 15.99. Don't own a dog so that's out.

So have to look at the Purex:

Zellers is selling it for 6.99 this week. Safeway is 9.96. With 10% Tuesday the price drops to 8.96 with 20 AMs bonus. Here are the valuations:

    @12.5 8.96 - 2.50 AMs = 6.46

    @14.0 8.96 - 2.80 AMs = 6.16

    @18.5 8.96 - 3.70 AMs = 5.26

None of the above takes into account the slightly higher HST at Safeway on Tuesday (1.08) vs Zellers (0.84) a difference of $0.24.

Adding that to the 12.5 valuation gives Safeway an effective price of 6.70 which still beats Zellers 6.99 plus if you signed up for the online offer you've picked up 1/3 of $10.

    Dove 2 x 120g is BOGO @ $4.74 or $2.37 each

    Lever 4 x 89g is BOGO @ $4.29 or $2.15 each

Tuesday prices are $2.13 and $1.93

If you have the $1 Dove or Lever Coupons after accounting for $1.05 in AiMiles each you're basically getting it free if they accept 2 coupons on a BOGO (which I think will work as most cashiers don't know each 2nd bar is free.

The chocolate bars are $2.15 at my store but the coupon start date isn't until the 9th so I don't know if the chocolate bars will still be the same price.

Dog food you can donate to the SPCA or food bank.

Yes, but is there enough of an advantage to make it worthwhile donating (beyond my regular charitable donations that is.).

SDM has the Dove Soap on sale for $3.99

Safeway's BOGO at $4.74 = $2.37 or 41% cheaper without even considering the AirMiles.
